Today we said goodbye to John.

John was a devoted husband, a much-loved dad and a proud grandad who meant so much to everyone who knew him.

As a young boy, John spent many hours looking out of the classroom window, fascinated by the construction of the new M6 motorway. Perhaps it was those early days of watching the lorries and machinery at work that inspired his future career as he later qualified as an HGV driver.

John's greatest passions were sport and travel. He was fortunate enough to travel the world, enjoying many Formula One Grand Prix, including unforgettable trips to Singapore and Dubai. His love of music also led him to combine one of those trips with the opportunity to see Liam Gallagher perform live in Singapore… it certainly was an experience he treasured.

John also loved walking, he could often be found rambling around Rivington.
If there was ever a pair of walking boots on offer, he wouldn't hesitate to snap them up while adding them to his ever-growing collection!

Today we said goodbye with heavy hearts, but also with the comfort and hope that John is now lovingly reunited with his beloved wife Glennis.

Therapy isn’t always facilitated indoors. 💙

Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking part in a walk and talk therapy session surrounded by the beauty of nature. Being outdoors in familiar surroundings created an even more relaxed and comfortable setting. We were accompanied by sheep and horses with birds singing in the background as we walked through the fields.

As we walked, we explored difficult emotions and discussed practical ways to help calm the mind and body when feelings of sadness become overwhelming. Gentle exercise and time spent outdoors in nature can help release the body’s natural endorphins: our “feel-good” chemicals which can positively impact our mood and wellbeing.

If you’re feeling low or overwhelmed, put on some comfortable footwear and take yourself for a gentle stroll. Sometimes a change of scenery, fresh air and a little movement can make all the difference. 💖🙏🏻💙

It felt like dual therapy for me too. Spending time amongst the horses was incredibly grounding, and their gentle cuddles while we stood stroking them in the fields were good for the soul. 🐴🐑🐦‍⬛🦋

Nature has a wonderful way of reminding us to slow down, breathe….. and simply be.

Today we said goodbye to Tracey. 💛

Tracey was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mum.
From a very young age, Tracey was independent, strong-willed and full of spirit. Her determination and caring nature remained with her throughout her life and helped her become a Deputy Manager in a residential care setting where she dedicated herself to supporting and caring for those in need.

Tracey adored her family and pets. When she wasn't caring for them, she enjoyed spending time on creative hobbies including cross stitch and more recently, painting on canvas then gifting them to family and friends.

Tracey loved to travel and dreamed of one day walking along the Great Wall of China and seeing the giant pandas in their natural home.

Today we take comfort in Tracey's spiritual beliefs, knowing that she is now lovingly reunited with her dad. Though she will be deeply missed, her strength, kindness and love will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 💜

Today we said goodbye to Margaret.

Margaret was a devoted wife, an absolutely phenomenal mum and a much-loved Nanna. She dedicated her life to her children and was fiercely protective of them. That love extended to her grandchildren too…. Margaret would even defend them against their own parents!!!

Many years ago, Margaret and her husband ran a taxi business from their home. While her husband was out on the road, Margaret was the reassuring voice behind every telephone call. She was an exceptional operator, keeping everything running smoothly and making sure everyone was picked up on time.

Margaret had a great love for Elvis and today's music reflected that with many of her favourite songs played in tribute to her. Those songs captured not only her love of music but also the happiness she brought to those around her.

Margaret's love for her family and her caring nature will never be forgotten. She leaves behind countless cherished memories and a legacy of love that will continue through the family she adored.
Margaret will be deeply missed.

During our counselling sessions in school yesterday we focused on reflecting on the progress the children have made over the course of the term.

Some children chose to continue with creative arts and crafts, while others used the fidget toys and Play-Doh as a way to self-regulate and find comfort.
Progress is not always obvious in the moment; often, it is only when we look back that we truly appreciate how far we have come. It has been encouraging to hear teachers recognise the children's growing use of new coping strategies within their day-to-day behavioural management in the classroom.

However, more important than recognition from others was ensuring that each child could recognise and celebrate their own personal progress. Developing that sense of self-awareness and achievement is a significant part of their journey.

One of our creative activities also involved making something for someone else. Knowing a parent's birthday was approaching, one child thoughtfully chose to make a birthday card. We spent time together creating it, and it was a lovely reminder that creativity can also be an expression of kindness, connection and care for others.

Today we said goodbye to Sheila.

Sheila was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a cherished grandmother and a proud great-grandmother. Family was the centre of her world. Sheila had the most incredible smile: one that could light up a room and instantly make people feel welcome.

Life was not without its heartbreak. Sheila experienced the profound loss of both her beloved husband and her youngest son. It was a grief that few could truly imagine, yet somehow she found the strength to carry on. While she never stopped missing them, she chose to focus her love and energy on the family who remained, continuing to be their source of comfort, support and love.

Sheila loved to revisit treasured memories, often taking a walk down Memory Lane to Liverpool, where her beloved husband first proposed to her. Those memories were precious to her, bringing smiles and reminding her of a lifetime built on love.

She also had a wonderful claim to fame…. Sheila adored Engelbert Humperdinck and one unforgettable day her dream came true when he sang directly to her on stage and during a second performance, he gave Sheila a kiss…. It was a moment she treasured and one she loved to share with those around her.

Since Sheila's passing, her family have experienced several beautiful spiritual signs that have brought them great comfort. They have felt her presence in gentle and meaningful ways, reassuring them that although she is no longer here in body, her love remains all around them. These moments have reminded them that Sheila is at peace, reunited with those she has longed to see again and that she will continue to watch over the family she loved.

Today we said goodbye to Jimmy.

Jimmy's soulmate and best friend Olwyn came into his life with two children. Like many blended families, there were challenges and adjustments in those early days. But over the years, those relationships grew into something truly special. By the end of Jimmy's life, there was a deep mutual love and appreciation for the many years of his unconditional care, support and devotion.

Jimmy embraced his role as a stepfather and later as a step-grandfather. He devoted his life to loving and caring for the family he proudly called his own.

Jimmy's story is a story of love and companionship with his beloved wife Olwyn. When Olwyn sadly died last year, Jimmy was left with an immeasurable void. Olwyn had always been at the centre of his world and he was lost without her.

Today we take comfort in the hope that Jimmy and Olwyn are now lovingly reunited, together once more 💗🙏🏻💙

Today, we said goodbye to Elaine.

It would be fair to say that life presented Elaine with more than her fair share of challenges. She endured the heartbreaking loss of her mum at such a young age, the loss of her first husband and later, the loss of her soulmate… a man who lovingly embraced the role of stepfather to her children and a grandfather figure to her grandchildren.

Despite the hardships she faced, Elaine never lost her spirit. She was described as a "cool mum," and from everything that was shared today, it was easy to see why…. She had a fabulous character, a wonderful sense of humour and a way of making those around her smile.

In her later years, Elaine found comfort and peace through her local spiritual church where she found friendship, support and strength. She remained a strong, feisty woman with a fiercely loyal heart. Elaine was a consistent and dependable friend who was always willing to help anyone in need.
From a very young age she was taught the core message of “kindness” and this stayed with her throughout her life.

Rest easy Elaine. May you now be reunited with all those who have gone before you….
May your soul find the peace that you so richly deserve. 💗🙏🏻💖

Today was a little bit about networking.

As part of supporting families, I work closely with a local printer who provides the beautiful Order of Service stationery for their loved ones.
After months of exchanging emails, I thought it was about time I put a face to the lovely conversations we've been having.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Chelsea from Kingsprint. She does an amazing job supporting families with the wide range of thoughtful and personalised Order of Service booklet designs while also supporting our local community by producing everything from advertising posters to a variety of printed materials.

It was wonderful not only to see the range of products Kingsprint has to offer, but also to meet the person behind the fantastic work.
And of course… where there's Kelly…. there's always cake! 🧁 Chelsea was treated to a few homemade cupcakes.

Thank you for the warm welcome Chelsea. It was lovely to finally meet you. I look forward to continuing to work together to support families in our community. 💜
