Balcony Study…The mountain range framing my view in Pollença is the Serra de Tramuntana, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage mountain range running along the northwest backbone of Mallorca. Working quick and loose in the sweltering afternoon heat using acrylics on canvas board. Inspired by Cézanne’s Mountains in Provence.

SILENT GIANTS OF FRAISTHORPE.
I love the drive to Fraisthorpe beach (one of my favourites for a lovely long walk) and how with the wind farm you get a kind of industrial tranquility. I’ve been purposely playing with my folk art style in a landscape environment and I really like this piece for that.

Impressionistic Whispers of Whitby Harbour 70cm x50cm.
Started this in the gallery yesterday morning, I had some music on and just got lost in the moment. I didn’t start with an outcome in mind but at a point I decided to lean into the post impressionistic style and overall I think it works… what do you think?

SALT PANS ROAD TO CLOUGHTON WYKE.
Loved the last 3 days and this piece is a memory of my time. I love this view from Cober Hill to Cloughton Wyke.
I have done this one over the last couple of nights after the long brilliant days finished. It’s simple, but energetic and colourful like some of my recent plein air pieces. PS I love the 20mph sign. Back in the gallery a for a few hours today and tomorrow, if your in Scarborough come say hi.

What an amazing 3 days leading the walk and sketch group for North Yorks Art School.
It was the first time we tried 3 different locations for this residential and I think overall it was a success (despite the wind and the rain).
I absolutely love supporting and encouraging people, but also learning from them too.
A special thanks to Shirley Durham-Hughes and Peter Ruczynski for helping make sure everyone was supported during the course. Some great memories made ❤️

2 Pints of Lager and a Bag of Chips.
Newest addition to the tentacles of terror series. It’s not 💯 finished but getting there!
I love the buildings on this stretch of Sandside in Scarborough, and thought my octopus 🐙 would too. (Marisco Lounge Newcastle Packet).
The gallery is only open Friday and Saturday this week as I am running a walk and sketch residential this week, which I’m looking forward to as ever.

North Bay View.
Sunday morning walk with Walt. It was a bit of a miserable morning but after so much sun we needed some rain. I’m enjoying these loose quick acrylic studies.

Went for a morning ramble along the seafront with Walt the wonder dog and decided to do this quick plein air study. After seeing some of Monets works I wanted to play with that loose impressionistic style. He did a lot of pieces looking over the cliffs of Normandy and with the weather as it is in Scarborough I could have almost been there too.

Just wanted to say a massive thank-you to everyone who came to the gallery for the Coble Market, I spoke to lots of familiar faces and some new ones too. Also a huge thank-you and welcome to Dasha who did some Linoprinting through the day. Darya has some beautiful prints that are now available to buy in the gallery. This week I will be open Thurs, Fri and Saturday… pop-in and say hello if you are in Scarborough.

Just a reminder that this Sunday is the Coble Market and I will be open in the Vaults 10-4 supported by This Is Scarborough.
