Wonders of the Wild - A Community-Created Celebration of Nature
11th July – 9th August 2026
The Old Parcels Office Artspace, Scarborough

This summer, the Old Parcels Office Artspace invites visitors to discover Wonders of the Wild, a vibrant exhibition celebrating the beauty, diversity and wonder of the natural world through art, creativity and community collaboration.

The exhibition brings together 6 local artists and 7 community groups who have worked side-by-side to create an extraordinary collection of large-scale sculptures inspired by flora and fauna. Using recycled and repurposed materials, the artworks explore the wildlife, landscapes and ecosystems found along the Yorkshire Coast, while encouraging conversations about creativity, sustainability and our connection to nature.

The collaborative projects feature:

• Bobby Hick working with Sparks project
• Charlotte Hill working with Scarborough & District Mencap
• Simon Doughty working with the The Rainbow Centre, Scarborough
• Dan Parker Parker Props and Art working with Gallows Close Centre
• Katie Gill The Curious Caboodle working with Cross Lane Mental Health Unit
• Jayne Shipley working with Scarborough Hall Care Home + Yorkshire Coast Sight Support

Together, the artists and participants have transformed everyday discarded materials into imaginative creatures, plants and habitats, creating an exhibition that celebrates both the natural world and the power of community creativity.

So proud to have played a part in this project, it all looks amazing now every group has got their display up. Here are some images of the work created with Cross Lane Hospital. It's been an absolute pleasure. On at The Old Parcels Office Scarborough from 11th July to 9th August. Do go and see it, you're in for a treat! 🐦🪺🦉

Well today's workshops were mega fun, lots of laughs were had! Thanks so much to the folks that came along and really got creative. I love how every assemblage is unique and individual to each person. Lots of memories were shared and many of the found objects evoked lots of nostalgia. For anyone interested in doing one of the Assemblage Art Workshops, there are spaces on both morning and afternoon sessions on 20th July. Drop me a message if you are interested.

There's a little exhibition on display in my mezzanine shop from tomorrow as part of Scarborough Art. Mostly new mixed media assemblage artworks. I've been a tad quiet about it as it was touch and go as to whether the exhibition would be happening. It's been a rough week to say the least, we had to say an emotional goodbye to our cat Earl Grey a couple of days ago. 🩶 It has been a struggle to get everything done but I've surprised myself and pulled it all together.

Mezzanine shop opening hours for this month. I'm mostly open the usual 10am to 4pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday but there are a few days when this changes. Also, I will be closed on the 1st and 2nd this week for some exhibition installations at the OPO and the shop. Let's hope July is a little calmer with the weather and it is nicely warm not absolutely boiling! 🌞🤞😎

I'm in the shop today creating a flock of seagulls to put in tiny bottles. These are one of my most popular miniatures and I've only got one left so thought I'd better make more. There's a new dapper chap sneaked in, can you spot him? I'll be doing a small run of the seagull with a neckerchief to see how they go.

I'm here at the market mezzanine until 4pm today and will be open tomorrow 10am to 4pm.
