Do you often find yourself with a headache after a long day at work? 🧑💻
Spending hours looking at screens or focusing on close up tasks can contribute to eye strain, sometimes referred to as computer vision syndrome. When your eyes are working hard for extended periods, the muscles around your eyes, forehead and temples can become fatigued, contributing to tension headaches. 🖥️👀
While eye strain is not usually serious, it can be uncomfortable and disruptive. The good news is, a few simple changes to your daily routine can help reduce eye strain and keep your eyes more comfortable.
• Follow the 20 20 20 rule: every 20 minutes, look at something around 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
• Make sure your workspace is well lit and reduce glare where possible.
• If you wear glasses or contact lenses, make sure your prescription is up to date.
• Remember to blink regularly, particularly when concentrating on a screen, to help prevent dry, uncomfortable eyes.
If headaches or eye strain are becoming a regular problem, speak to your optometrist for advice. 👁️
