Turn The Page Counselling Ltd

Turn The Page Counselling Ltd Therapy for children, Teens, and Adults, face to face and online, 1-1 and groups. We work both inside and outside of schools at times that suit.

Turn the Page is an Independent Counselling Service working with children, young people and their families. We tailor the work for individual schools based on half, full day contracts or on a sessional basis. People seek counselling for many reasons usually at a time when they need some extra support, or someone to listen to them. Counselling can be a great way to express and work through life's c

omplications and stresses within a non-judgemental environment. Counselling has previously been offered to clients experiencing a bereavement, change/ loss, family separation, self-harm, phobias, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and in helping build self-confidence. We are a team of Counsellors trained in Person-centred therapy, drawing on Art/Play therapy, CBT, and Solution-focused strategies. If you would like any further information about the service please get in touch. Thank you,
Joanna & the team at TTP.

🌿This Week’s Mindfulness: Mindful Mandalas 🌿

There’s something truly special about taking mindfulness outdoors.

This week at Turn the Page Counselling, our young people stepped away from the everyday and immersed themselves in nature. Using leaves, stones, pine cones, shells and other natural treasures, they worked together to create beautiful Mindful Mandalas before spending time colouring their own mandalas and connecting with the world around them.

Outdoor mindfulness encourages children to slow down, notice the little things, and engage all of their senses. Creative activities in nature help to:
🍃 Reduce stress and anxiety
🌼 Improve focus and concentration
🪵 Encourage teamwork and communication
🎨 Inspire creativity and imagination
💚 Build a deeper connection with the natural world

At TTP, we believe that some of the most meaningful therapeutic moments happen outside. Nature provides a calm, non-judgemental space where children can explore, create, regulate their emotions and simply enjoy being present.

A huge well done to everyone who joined us this week—we loved seeing your creativity shine! ✨

📚 TTP Book of the Month – July 💙💛

This month we’re delighted to be adding LiSTEN to Me by Chris Hadjigeorgiou of SEN Achieve to our growing neuroaffirming library here at Turn the Page Counselling.

This practical and informative guide is an invaluable resource for parents and carers navigating the SEND journey. It offers clear guidance on topics including:
✨ EHCPs
✨ The SEN Register
✨ School placements
✨ Mediation
✨ SEND Tribunal appeals

Whether you’re just beginning your journey or looking for support through the next stage, this book provides straightforward, accessible advice to help you feel more informed and empowered.

Our Book of the Month Club is all about sharing books that educate, inspire and support our community. Every month we’ll add another carefully chosen neuroaffirming title to our office library for parents, carers and young people to enjoy.

📖 Feel free to have a read the next time you’re visiting our office—we hope it helps you feel a little more confident and supported.

Have you read a book that has made a difference to your family’s SEND journey? We’d love to hear your recommendations in the comments. 💙

🌳💛 This Week in Mindfulness: Gratitude Trees 💛🌳

This week our wonderful mindfulness group took a moment to slow down and think about all the things they are grateful for.

Using our beautiful Gratitude Tree, each child created their own gratitude leaves, sharing the people, places, memories and little moments that make them smile. 🍃✨

Practising gratitude is a simple but powerful way to:
💛 Boost confidence and self-esteem
🌿 Improve emotional wellbeing
🧠 Develop a positive mindset
💙 Build resilience during difficult times
😊 Encourage kindness and connection with others

Our mindfulness sessions are full of creative, hands-on activities that help children explore their emotions, build confidence and develop lifelong wellbeing skills in a safe, supportive environment.

📍 Tuesdays
🕖 7.00pm – 7.45pm
👧 Ages 7–10 years
💙 A warm, welcoming space where every child belongs.

If you’d like your child to join us, we’d love to hear from you. Spaces are kept small to ensure every child receives plenty of support.

🦸‍♀️💙 This week in our Mindfulness Group, our young people became Mindfulness Superheroes! 💙🦸‍♂️

Using creativity, imagination and a little bit of mindfulness magic, the children designed their own unique superheroes, each one representing their strengths, qualities and personal superpowers.

As they created, we explored important conversations around:
✨ What makes us unique
✨ Being kind to ourselves and others
✨ Finding calm when emotions feel big
✨ Building confidence and self-belief
✨ Recognising our strengths

Through art and creativity, children are often able to express thoughts, feelings and ideas that can be difficult to put into words. These wonderful superheroes reminded us that bravery, kindness, resilience and creativity come in many different forms.

We loved seeing each child’s personality shine through in their creations, and hearing all about the special powers they chose for themselves. 🌟

At Turn the Page, we believe mindfulness should be engaging, creative and fun — helping children build emotional awareness and confidence in a safe and supportive space.

Which superhero would you choose to be? 💭✨

📚💙 TTP Neurodivergent Book of the Month 💙📚

This month, we are sharing “I See Things Differently: A First Look at Autism” by Pat Thomas.

This gentle and accessible book helps children begin to understand autism in a positive and age-appropriate way. Through simple language and relatable examples, it encourages empathy, acceptance, and an appreciation that everyone experiences and understands the world differently.

At Turn the Page Counselling, we are passionate about promoting neurodiversity-affirming resources that help children feel understood, valued, and celebrated for who they are. Books like this can be a wonderful starting point for conversations at home, in schools, and within therapeutic spaces.

🌟 Perfect for:
• Children wanting to understand autism
• Siblings, friends, and classmates
• Schools and educational settings
• Families beginning their neurodiversity journey

Different isn’t less. Different is simply different. 💙

Have you read this book with your child or used it in school? We’d love to hear your thoughts below.

✨ We’re so excited to finally share something we’ve been working hard on behind the scenes…

💙 The brand new “Understanding Autism” programme launches this September at Turn the Page Counselling! 💛

This 6-week programme has been carefully created by to help young people better understand autism, sensory differences, emotions, identity, strengths, and wellbeing — all within a safe, neuro-affirming and supportive environment. 🌿

We are now able to offer this programme face-to-face to our young people aged 8-18. Delivered by one of our qualified therapists and trained Spectrum Gaming Facilitators, the sessions are designed to help children feel understood, connected, and empowered to be themselves.

Because creating a calm and safe group environment is so important to us, we are keeping our office-based groups intentionally small with just 5 children per group. We will carefully match children within each small group to help ensure the right mix of young people attend together and feel comfortable within the space.

✨ Limited places available
📍Based at our Great Moor office, 352A Buxton Road.
👧 Ages 8–18 years
📅 Launching September 2026- Dates TBC

We are incredibly proud to be part of sharing this programme and cannot wait to welcome our first groups.
If you’d like more details, the costs, or to book a place, be quick and send us an email to register your interest 💙

Sometimes we just need to pause. 🌿

To stop and notice the colours around us, the movement of the trees, the warmth of the sun, the tiny details we often miss when life feels busy.

Nature can gently remind us to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with the present moment. 💛

Even a few quiet minutes outside can help calm our minds, regulate our nervous systems, and bring a sense of peace back into the day.

What’s one thing you noticed today? 🌸
