WINDOWS OF THE HIGH STREET: A CLOSER LOOK

When shopping we tend to look through shop windows to the wares within, rather than at the windows themselves, but there are some windows in Teddington High Street that are certainly worth noticing and celebrating. Many of the most decorative windows are within the fine Edwardian parades of shops built around 1900 on the south side of the High Street and are well-preserved survivors of an age which prided itself on its craftsmanship.

At 146 High Street, the beautiful shopfront at Nova Fortuny has curved bars in the windows with a matching pierced screen over the door. There are also three scrolled motifs on architraves above each window and door, while the whole is resting on delicate pillars that are replicated at the door frame. This door also has rounded glass at the top and the glass at the entrance to the shop curves to create a stunning effect.

My what big eye you have!
… today at the Railroad Station in Teddington, on my way to the West End to do some Summer 2023 buying for all of you. This  gorgeous creature well known around the platform now finds himself inside Puccino’s, keeping lonely travellers like me company, whilst I enjoy a lovely Latte and croissant. 
ps you’ll have to wait till next summer to see what I found. xx
