Townley Saddlery and Leatherwork I was taught how to make leather items from scratch using only hand tools. Sewing machines and presses were not used in our training. This is how I work today.

All items were hand prepared and hand stitched, nothing was mechanised.

A little BEFORE and AFTER work... Abandoned and forgotten in the back of the tack room, looking a little sad and sorry for itself. It has benefitted hugely from a good oil and renovation. Keeping leather fed and supple adds years to the life of it.

Throwback! I made this belt roughly 20 years ago and as you can see, it has been worn lovingly ever since. I've included pics of this to show you what the leather looks like once it has aged and been worn in. Yes, small cracks emerge. The shape may warp a little. But it simply adds to the age and character of the belt.

If you ask nicely, I might be able to conjure up something similar...
