Meet the faces behind Just Like Mildred

We’re Jade & Michelle, a mother-and-daughter duo behind Just Like Mildred.

Our little business started in 2023, when I (Jade) was struggling with my mental health after having my first child. Mum and I bought a resin kit and started making coasters, keyrings and earrings — never imagining where it would take us.

We soon fell in love with putting real flowers into jewellery, later adding polymer clay to our creations too.

And the name? Mildred was our grandma. Although we lost her, she is still loved and remembered every day, so having her name as part of something we've built together feels incredibly special.

Mum isn't just my business partner — she's my best friend and soulmate. We work full-time jobs together AND run this business together... so yes, we spend a lot of time together! 😂 Apparently I'm the bossy one who likes things my way, while Mum is definitely the perfectionist!

Our dream is to eventually make Just Like Mildred our full-time jobs. For now, we're growing it one piece at a time — quite literally, as we've even started growing our own forget-me-nots, pansies and cornflowers to use in our jewellery.

Every order means the world, but seeing customers come back or spotting someone wearing something we've made? That's the best feeling. 🥹

Our flowers are growing beautifully 😍

*Allotment update*

It’s been a whole month since we got our allotment and we honestly couldn’t be happier with how it’s coming along 🌱

So far we’ve got potatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, beetroot, a little herb garden, strawberries, tomatoes, cucumber, beans, spinach, courgette and butternut squash all growing beautifully. Still to go in are our corn, cabbage, sprouts, green beans, leeks and cauliflower — plenty more to do but we’re loving every minute of it!

Our flowers have started to bloom as well, and we’ve already been blessed with so many gorgeous Forget-Me-Nots 💙 They’ve inspired a brand new collection that’s currently in the works… keep your eyes peeled 👀

There’s something really special about watching it all grow from the ground up — can’t wait to see what the next month brings 🌼
