Oh my goodness! Third piece of lace which is sooooo challenging! 20 pairs of bobbins, changes of direction and new techniques to learn. I’m telling myself it’s good to learn something new and master (or mistress ) new skills! No homework this week till I become more confident.

Day 2 of my journey into Lace Making!
Have managed to finish the pattern ... with only a going back to rectify mistakes!
I can’t show you the finished product as it has to rest until my next class on Tuesday,
This is Cloth stitch and the style of lace making is Torchon, French for dishcloth! You can see why if you look at the open texture!

Day 2 of Beginners’ Lace Making. Today, learning Cloth Stitch and following the pattern for ‘Snake’. It’s a very soothing craft once you get the rhythm of the bobbins. Tomorrow, I might reach the bottom of the pattern and then it has to ‘rest’ fro 24 hours to ‘set’ the threads!

Thanks to and for their recipes for Galette des Rois. I should have cut out a bigger circle ( will do so next year) but ‘chausson des rois’ which was bigger worked better though not traditional!
