I’ve noticed a definite change in my skin whilst been away and still this morning so I’d thought I’d share with you the reasons why as there can be more than one rather than just say what products you need to use.
* Heat (rather than UV itself) can stimulate your sebaceous glands, so on hot, sunny days your skin may feel much oilier.
* Sun exposure can dehydrate the outer layer of your skin. In some people, the skin responds by producing more oil to try to compensate, making it feel greasy even though it’s actually dehydrated.
* If you’ve had mild sunburn, the skin barrier is damaged. Initially, the skin may feel dry and tight, but as it starts to recover, it can sometimes appear oilier because of changes in barrier function and increased sebum production.
If you’re noticing you’re oilier after being in the sun, the best approach is to:
* Use a gentle cleanser rather than stripping the skin. I use Tropic clarifying cleanser as it targets the excess oils without over drying the skin.
* Replenish hydration with Tropic morning mist which is a soothing toning essence and great to use throughout the day as a pick me up and has been a godsend kept in the fridge to use whenever during the heat on holiday.
* Finally I use Tropic Skin re-leaf soothing lightweight moisturiser to support the recovery of my skin by flooding it with moisture and reinforcing my skins natural barrier.
* You should continue wearing SPF daily, especially if you’ve had any sunburn and should use home or away. My little tube of Tropic Sun-Day has been so good, not causing any soreness or redness just a beautiful thick creamy lotion that smells lush.
