Okay... but who is doing what?

What are we actually reviewing?

“Remind staff to be careful.”

Vague H&S actions are really easy to raise and surprisingly difficult to close.
A decent action should make it clear what needs doing, who owns it and when it needs to happen.

Otherwise we're just creating another line on a spreadsheet.

When is a Health & Safety action actually complete?

Is it when somebody ticks the box?

When they've added a comment?

When there's photographic evidence?

Or when somebody has checked that what was done actually solved the original problem?

There isn't one answer that works for every action.

A minor housekeeping issue doesn't need the same level of evidence as a significant machinery repair.

A question for anyone involved in workplace Health & Safety.

What do you think stops people reporting near misses?

Not knowing what counts as one?

Thinking it's too minor?

A reporting process that takes too long?

Or reporting things previously and never hearing anything back?

Making reporting easy is one part of it, but I'm not convinced that's the whole answer.

Interested to hear what others see in practice.

Check it yourself?

Ask for other evidence?

Or does it depend on the action?
