A little bit about me and how my business began... 🌹🧸
I've had quite a few people recently asking how I started making my flowers and memory bears, so I thought I'd share the story behind it all.
It all began with the flowers. A friend told me she was planning to make her own wedding bouquet from pages of Harry Potter books. I told her there was no way she'd have the time to make them herself—especially when she later revealed she had 10 bridesmaids... and had moved the wedding six months earlier! 😅
So, armed with YouTube tutorials, I taught myself how to make paper roses and other flowers. Some designs were far too intricate to recreate over and over, but I gradually developed my own techniques. I even learnt how to colour the book pages to perfectly match the wedding colour scheme—all with no previous floristry experience, just a love of being creative (which definitely runs in the family!).
That brings me to the memory bears. 🧸
My nan was one of my biggest role models, and incredibly, she lived to the amazing age of 103. Knowing she had lived such a full life gave us time to talk about the future, and I always knew I wanted something special to remember her by.
When she passed away, I used some of her clothes to make memory bears for our family. Using the sewing skills she had taught me over the years, I was able to create something that brought comfort and kept a little piece of her close to us. Sadly, I couldn't use her sewing machine—it gave up after working overtime making face masks during COVID!
Creating flowers and memory bears is the perfect business for me. I'm also a mum to two wonderful adult daughters, and my youngest is profoundly and multiply disabled. Running my business allows me to do something I truly love while fitting my work around her care needs.
Every flower and every bear I make is created with care, love, and attention to detail. It's a privilege to create keepsakes that help celebrate life's happiest moments and preserve precious memories.
