💕 You don’t need to know what style of wedding dress you want before you come to me. 💕

You don’t even need to have tried a wedding dress on before.

You might have absolutely no idea whether you’re an A-line girl, a fitted girl, a lace girl or a “I don’t even know what half of those words mean!” girl.That’s absolutely fine.

What I do love you to have before booking your appointment is your wedding date and your venue. Those two things tell me so much about you, your day and what we might explore together.

From there, we can start with you. How you want to feel. What you normally wear. What you love. What you don’t and perhaps most importantly, how you feel when you look in the mirror.

You don’t need to arrive with a Pinterest board containing 147 dresses, or know your preferred neckline.
And you certainly don’t need to fit into someone else’s idea of what a bride “should” look like.

What I would love is for you to come with an open mind and a willingness to see yourself as you are right now. Your wedding dress should make you feel beautiful for who you are today.
Not be a reward for losing a certain number of dress sizes.
Not something you have to “earn”.and not something that makes you spend the months before your wedding worrying about whether you’ll fit into it.

Of course, bodies change. Life happens. And your dress can be altered to fit you as your wedding day approaches, but I want you to choose your dress based on the bride standing in front of the mirror, rather than a future version of yourself you’re hoping to become.

My appointments are about so much more than putting dresses on. I’ll guide you, I’ll be honest with you, and I’ll encourage you to try things you might never have chosen from a photograph.

There may be surprises. There may be dresses you thought you’d hate. There may even be a few curveball “Oh my goodness, I never would have picked this!” moments.

And that’s the fun of it. You don’t have to know what you want. You just need to know that you’re ready to find what feels right for you.

Because the right dress isn’t about becoming a bride.

💕What if I don’t cry but I think I’ve found my dress?💕

It’s a question that you may well have asked yourself as a bride to be.
“I love my dress, but I didn’t cry. Does that mean that it’s not the one?”

Of course not. No.

Some brides cry when they find their dress, some laugh, some go really quiet, some can’t stop smiling and some simply feel a sense of calm and certainty.

The truth is that there’s no correct reaction.

Some TV programmes would have you believe that there should be moments where tears flow and everyone instantly knows. Real life is often more personal than that.

Finding your dress isn’t about performing a particular emotion. It’s about how the dress makes you feel.

Do you feel comfortable? Confident? Can you imagine yourself walking down the aisle in it? Does it feel like you?

The biggest clue isn’t always an emotional reaction at all.
It’s that you don’t want to take the dress off. You keep thinking about it after you’ve left your appointment. It’s that every dress is quietly being compared to it.

💕My advice💕

*Be honest with yourself.
*Trust your instincts
*Don’t measure your experience against someone else’s.
*Your wedding is unique, and your reaction to finding your dress will be too.

It’s worth surrounding yourself with people and suppliers who are genuinely invested in helping you make the right decision for you, not the decision they think you should make.

To sum up, the right dress doesn’t need tears to validate it, it should just feel ‘right’ and that is every bit as meaningful.

💕 There’s something really special about being part of a local business community. 💕

Running your own business can sometimes feel like a very solitary thing.
You make all the decisions. Solve the problems. Celebrate the wins, and sometimes you sit there wondering, “What on earth am I doing?”

That’s one of the things I’ve come to really appreciate about being a member of the Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade.
Because although we may all run completely different businesses, there’s a wonderful sense of understanding amongst people who are doing the same thing.

Business owners understand the highs, the challenges.the long days, the slow, quiet days and the continuous learning.
All those lovely little moments that come with running a small business.

There’s also something great about being able to share ideas, recommend each other, celebrate each other’s successes and simply know that there are other local business owners who quite simply ‘get it.’

I’m especially proud to be part of a business community that helps champion the independent businesses across Whitley Bay, Cullercoats Earsdon and Monkseaton.
Simply Wed Bridal may be independent, but I don’t want to be independent of my community.
So,let’s support each other, and help put our little corner of the North East firmly on the map.

💕“You have more dresses than I thought” 💕

One of the loveliest comments I’ve had from a bride recently was:

“I was pleasantly surprised by how many beautiful dresses you have. Looking at your social media, I didn’t realise there were so many!”

And it honestly made me smile.

It also made me realise that perhaps I don’t show you enough of what is waiting inside the boutique.

I deliberately don’t fill my social media with every gown I have. I want you to discover some of the magic when you walk through the door.

Because a wedding dress does look completely different on a bride than it does hanging on a rail or appearing on a screen.

Sometimes it’s the dress you wouldn’t have chosen from a photograph that makes you stop in front of the mirror and think…

“Oh… hello.”

💕 Why I Started Simply Wed Bridal 💕

Sometimes the most meaningful businesses begin with a very simple idea or thought.

“I wonder if I could create this a little differently?”

The idea for Simply Wed Bridal actually came to me while I was planning my own wedding.
My bridal shopping experience was lovely. I took my mum, visited a few boutiques and found my dress and had a really special moment when I said yes.
But there were little things I noticed along my own journey.

Not all of my appointments were completely private, and as someone who was quite self-conscious and not always the most confident, I sometimes found having someone with me while changing a little uncomfortable.

I don’t remember being asked much about my wedding, what was important to me or how I wanted to feel in my dress or on my day before we started.

And although my “yes” moment was lovely, I remember thinking afterwards that I would have loved it to have felt a little more celebrated.

Those experiences stayed with me.
They made me think about what I would want to create if I ever had the opportunity, and that’s where the foundations of Simply Wed Bridal began.
A place where one bride is welcomed at a time.
Where your appointment is about more than simply trying on dresses.
Where I’ll take the time to hear about your wedding, your vision and most importantly, you.
