Over the past month, every Tuesday we’ve been at Wolverhampton Art Gallery delivering Craft Club! 🎨🧵🪡

Each week we’ve taken pre-loved materials and fabric scraps that might otherwise have ended up in landfill and transformed them into beautiful works of art ✨

Join us for a fun, hands-on upcycling workshop as part of Go Green Week at . Bring old merch back to life with fabric patches, nature-inspired designs and creative details.

We’ll provide the patches, threads, accessories, beads, buttons and trims to upcycle your old merch! You don’t need any sewing or upcycling experience. Just come along and get creative 🎨🧵✨

Still not over our Future Threads, fashion show last weekend 🤩

We’re in awe of these talented students who took to the challenge of transforming old and unwanted garments into these masterpieces, in just 4 hours might we add!!! (Sewing Bee watch out, we may send a few students your way 👀)

Not only did they work so well in groups to sew and upcycle, but each outfit told a story, linking back to nature, the environment & climate. This former part of Save the Children UK ‘s Young People Climate Fund programme of events, funded by QBE. It was so wonderful to hear the speakers share these stories and talk so passionately about what they’d learnt through our Future Threads educational programme. 📚🧵🪡

We’ve had so many parents, students and teachers already asking when we’re putting on the next event 🤩

Thank you to all students (pictured and behind the scenes) from Ormiston SWB Academy Official Thomas Telford Colton Hills Community School Black Country Alternative Provision for being part of this project! You all smashed it 💥💚

And to our superstar singer on the day, thank you, Lottie. Your voice was incredible 😍 and the upcycled beano mag outfit, 10/10! 🤩

Have you spotted our Future Threads posters and banners around the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton? 👀💚

There’s a brilliant story behind the designs, and it’s all about creativity, collaboration and giving emerging talent real-world opportunities!

As part of Future Threads, we partnered up with our Catwalk Sponsor, , and our Award Sponsor at the University of Wolverhampton, to give graphic design students an exciting live brief 🤩

The challenge? To create a bold visual identity that would bring Future Threads to life across our marketing and promotional materials! 🎨

Students developed their own creative concepts, exploring everything from typography and colour to patterns and visual storytelling.

We then had the opportunity to visit the university, hear the students pitch their ideas and see the incredible creativity and thought behind their work.

And now, one student’s design has gone from a university project to being displayed across Wolverhampton’s shopping centre! 🙌

This is what meaningful collaboration looks like 🤝

Connecting education with industry, creating opportunities for young creatives and giving students the chance to see their work make a real impact. 🙏🏽

A HUGE thank you to Carolyn and Harriet at TP Squared, the University of Wolverhampton School of Creative Industries, lecturer Marc Austin for getting the students involved and everyone involved in making this happen. 💚
