I spent yesterday with dry season tomato farmers in the Bawku West District, Upper East Region. They just finished transplanting and hopefully by February through April they will be harvesting in large volumes.

What if 10 churches come together to establish a factory. This will be a value addition factory. Catholic, Methodist, Anglican, Presbyterian, EP, ICGC, Seven Days Adventist, First Love etc. Imagine these churches together establishing a factory in Ashanti, Volta or North East to add value to tomatoes, pepper or maize. Government on its part will also bring on board incentives for the establishment of the factory as well as ready market for the produce. Good idea?

Yesterday, i accompanied my boss Hon Eric Opoku, senior staff from the Min of Agric and local leaders from the Sekyere East District alongside traditional authorities in Anumso, Ashanti region, for the sod cutting and site possession for the construction of a modernized irrigation facility.
Upon completion, this facility will augment our irrigable land by an additional 175 hectares, significantly expanding our capacity for agricultural production. Other sites earmarked for development are Pong, Tano, Bia and Wietha.
