Where Material Innovation Meets Circular Design
What if the future of fashion started with the material itself?
Presented at Fashion Beyond Waste: New Rules, New Data, New Opportunities, held on 30 June 2026 at the ESEE Event Hall in Athens, this collaboration between Athens Knit Lab and noéma demonstrates how research, technology and sustainable design can come together to create practical circular solutions.
Together, the two partners developed The Zero Waste Bio-Knit—a prototype that combines advanced 3D knit-to-shape technology with bio-based yarn derived from agricultural waste. The collaboration explores how innovative materials, precision manufacturing and circular thinking can reduce waste while opening new possibilities for responsible textile production.
The prototype was showcased alongside other collaborative projects during the exhibition, illustrating how partnerships between designers, researchers and creative businesses can transform ideas into tangible outcomes and strengthen Greece’s growing ecosystem for sustainable fashion.
