Most of you ask me what is the meaning of the eye ๐Ÿงฟ that you can find everywhere in Ma Boutik.
I will tell you the story of this blue eye which is aesthetic but itโ€™s supposed to protect against the bad ล“il.
In the Mediterranean area, specially Greece and Turkey, you will find the blue eye in every entranceโ€™s houses, boats, shops and even on prams. Since ancient times, among the Greeks, Hebrews and Egyptians, the eye has been a particularly symbolic part of the body. The "evil eye" refers to a person's envious or negative gaze and brings bad luck to the person being looked at.

The blue eye serves as a lure and is intended to attract the gaze of the jealous or envious person to ward off its harmful effects. It was made by Arab glassmakers in the city of Izmir, in what is now Turkey.

After the Greek War of Independence (1821-1829), which saw Greece emancipate itself from the Ottoman yoke, the blue eye was perfected by craftsmen in Athens. The talisman, which the Turks called "Nazar boncuk" and the Greeks "matiasma", became the favourite good luck charm of the Mediterranean peoples.
They are as well the most famous souvenirs brought at home by the tourists.
