位於欽州街與荔枝角道的交叉口, 俗稱「棚仔」的欽州街小販市場是一座以鐵皮搭頂的小市場，行與行之間由檔戶互相合力搭建的帆布能作遮風擋雨之用，經過多年的改良及微調，更能經得起超級颱風及大雨的日子，為布匹作保護之作用，這裡每一點滴盡顯民間生活智慧，亦作為這市場的特大建築特色。
「棚仔」是布販的集中地，亦是設計系學生、成衣生產商、自家製衣女性及手工藝愛好者常到之地，有「深水埗棚仔布藝市場」之稱。 布販之貨源往往來自於大廠商用剩的零星布料，令小量布匹的售價又便宜，可即時買到現貨，又有很多獨特選擇，自然成為很多設計系學生的首選尋寶地，也是創意的發源地。
以前深水埗布販全集中於汝州街，1978年因興建地鐵荃灣線及劃為巴士線，政府要求200多名原集中於汝州街一帶的持牌布販讓路，遂搬至欽州街與荔枝角道今天稱為「棚仔」的一塊空地，其他則安置於基隆街。 整個深水埗布市，已有
逾六十年歷史，曾經在東南亞享負盛名，養活過不少人。
可是最近收地計劃又重臨至「棚仔」，屆時可能連最後一個特色賣布集中地都要消失。 有不少檔戶表示: 「嚟行唔成行成市, 根本冇得做。」有大部份檔戶及顧客希望可保留此既有歷史特色，又充滿人情味的小販市場; 有很多在此工作了逾四·十多年的老檔戶均感嘆地表示，希望能一直靠自己雙手及經驗，在這裡一直經營下去，不用倚賴政府的資源去維生。和現今其他的小販檔戶一樣，這是一種尊嚴，並不是單單用錢用綜援就能解決得到。

The Yen Chow Street Hawker Bazaar is a community of 50 fabric hawkers. They started selling fabric 38 years ago, and relocated once from Yu Chau Street. The fabric market does not only gain a good reputation in South East Asia for its special variery of fabrics, but also unfolds dozens of heartfelt stories of hawkers making ends met with sweat and toil. The government is planning to relocate and demolish the current location in the near future, which tramples on the survival opportunities of the grassroots people in Hong Kong who work and visit the market. At the same time, the relocation disregards the cultural protection and the uniqueness of the community as Hong Kong undergoes urban development. In response to this, hawkers in the market have formed the 'Yen Chow Street Hawkers Bazaar Concern Group' to strive for reasonable claims and maintain their self-reliance and dignity.
