At the Self Storage Annual Awards gala, our community opened their hearts - and wallets - to the children of Thailand.
Executive Director Andrew Workork was cajoled into the muay thai boxing ring by SSAA’s Heily Lai to fight in return for member donations to support “My School Project” for children in rural Thailand!
Overseas member John McGlynn piled on and offered a 1-for-1 matching donation and was so happy with the ‘fight’ that he increased it to a 2-for-1 match (for every baht donated, he put in 2 baht) on the spot!
The charity has been vetted and previously supported by long-standing SSAA member and site visit host LEO Self Storage ห้องเก็บของให้เช่า (see GM Pook in photos). Over 153,000 baht were raised, including Dr McGlynn’s hefty contribution.
It is amazing what good can be done in the world - when you beat up the boss.
More details below.

The purpose and goal of the project are inspired by the royal guidance of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great:
“Talking about the well-being of the people, the improvement of education is essential. Without good education, people cannot earn their living. The emphasis must be at all levels. If we talk about higher education and the need for scientists of high standing, we must start from elementary or kindergarten levels. Without a good foundation, there is no way to build up higher levels of learning.”
We are committed to supporting students in rural areas of Thailand by helping improve school buildings and learning facilities. “My School Project,” which is organized every two years, aims to create a better learning environment and atmosphere for students, allowing them to enjoy a more positive and effective learning experience.
Project Activities:
Organize a 2-day trip for LEO employees, sponsors, customers, and business partners to visit the selected school and help repair and renovate school buildings.
The first day - arrange team-building and group activities during the trip to strengthen relationships among LEO executives and staff, Sponsors, customers, and business partners who participate in the project.
The last day - deliver the repaired and renovated school buildings, new library, and educational equipment to the teachers, students, and local community.
