Did you know that traveling (Safar) is one of the accepted prayers?
A lot of people don't know that, but it's true. In fact, Based on the hadith of Abu Hurairah radhiyallahu anhu, the Messenger of Allah said: “There are three kinds of efficacious prayers, and there is no doubt in them. The prayer of a parent, the prayer of a traveler, and the prayer of the oppressed." (Narrated by Al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad [no. 32], Abu Dawud [no. 1536], At-Tirmidhi [2/256], Ibn Majah [no. 3862], Ibn Hibban [no. 2406], and Ahmad [2/258]. This hadith was quoted by Ash-Shaykh Al-Albani t. Please refer to As-Silsilah Ash-Shahihah no. 598)
But what does all this mean? What does it mean for us? It means that we should be more mindful when we travel—both physically and spiritually—so we can make sure our intentions are pure as we travel abroad or even around town!
