10 years of KYNA MAREE π€
If you'd told me 10 years ago that I would have an internationally selling brand, over 20 stockists across Ireland & Europe & thousands of women wearing my designs to special events globally I wouldn't have believed you.
Self-employment wasn't always some big fearless dream. Living with chronic illness & parenting children with additional needs meant working for someone else became more difficult. I needed flexibility. To be present for my family & work around my own health when it threw a spanner in the works.
Making the leap was a huge risk. But it paid off! It gave me the freedom to build a business around a life that didn't fit neatly into a 9β5. To rearrange weeks around appointments, illness & family. To keep building even when life was chaotic behind the scenes.
There have definitely been times when it nearly didn't work.
The pandemic all but broke me & my business. With weddings off, it wasn't exactly good news for a bridal-only brand! A big loan, a huge rebuild & a complete rethink followed. KYNA MAREE had to change. I pivoted & relaunched in a new direction, introducing everyday & occasion collections alongside the bridal pieces that started it all.
It was terrifying... but it gave the business new life.
Along the way I've learned more than I ever expected β design, photography, branding, marketing, web development, wholesale, sourcing, social media, ads... & the other 700 jobs under small business owner π
To every bride who chose my design for her big day & every person who has bought, gifted or worn a KM piece thank you from the bottom of my heart. It's a genuine honour to be part of your special moments π€
To my little circle who step in, model, pack, carry & get roped into the madness... thank you π€
& Shea, my trade fair sidekick with the gift of the gab, constant supporter & chief sneer who reminds me daily I βdon't have a real jobβ π
Everything I strive for has always been for my children. I hope you've learned the pride & satisfaction that comes from having an idea, believing in it & building something of your own.
10 years. I'm incredibly proud of what I've built & I'm not finished yet π€
