So it’s been one year since we’ve incorporated Goosey goo and wow what has been achieved in that year is absolutely mental considering we were homeless without a pot to p**s in to begin with! From absolute 0 to just shy of 60k in turn over, I know not huge or great by any standard of small business but for someone with all odds against them to make it work is huge! We started the business in April last year, since then we’ve supplied 2,000 Irish families with our eczema friendly clothing, received amazing reviews and feedback, been featured in 6 newspapers, a national TV appearance, multiple podcast and video features, lecturing students, judging startup ideas in an accelerator programme and above all we’ve our own home! Back when I was in addiction I never thought I’d amount to anything more than what I was, constantly trying to do jobs that never made me happy, I suffer with adhd and found it very hard to stick to anything but I found myself through having a family and setting up my own business, all of my success boils down to two things, hope and purpose. My purpose is to be the best dad and partner to my partner and child. Hope and a belief is what built my business, once I identified my problem and what I thought could solve it I could see the future of Goosey goo and that was the driving force that built it from the ground up because I could see the bigger picture, if you’re someone who’s going through a tough time or addiction or any sort of life troubles, keep the faith and take it one day at a time even when the world is bleak all you’ve got to do is wake up and go to sleep get through the day even if it takes 30 years there’s more meant for us all.

But on a real note, I couldn’t have done it without the support of the Irish people, the people of finglas who supported me at the very beginning and the newer more recent customers and supporters. I’d no grants or funding but I’d some fu***ng savage people behind me and that’s what really got us here so thank you all from the bottom of my heart and the guys (Clodagh and Nicole!).

One year in and all I can say is thank you to everyone who has supported us since the beginning and our more recent customers too, most people say we wouldn’t be here without you but genuinely we wouldn’t! I started this business without a penny in my pocket and built it up to 60,000 turn over in our first year! Not huge by business standards but for a guy and his family who were homeless at the time of conceiving this business it’s absolutely mental, all the PR our story brought and now having our own home it’s just crazy. Just thought I’d give you all a little back story to why I haven’t been on socials as much lately and it’s all been due to actually being safe and secure for the first time in over 10 years, l’ve a lot of undealt with trauma I’ve been burying for the past few years because life moved to quick and I was in survival mode looking after my family for the past 3 years, now that we’re safe and sound everything’s came back up and my nervous system has been worn out, I done everything to get myself out of addiction but I didn’t do the steps properly and talked through my trauma and issues. If you can learn something from me it’s talk because as men we don’t do it enough, also if you run a business try not do it all yourself and let people help where they can because you will hit burn out and it’s very hard to pull yourself back.

Getting ready thismorning to meet with and to shoot a video talking about my story, business and aims to bring forward a framework for a homeless to entrepreneurship program developed by myself and to bring forward to the government to help people who like myself are homeless but have a business idea they want to bring to life, this framework plans to provide homeless people with the tools to build out their idea, mentoring, and even funding and workspaces. All something I wished I had when starting my business while living in emergency accomodation. Video will release soon stay tuned!

2 long years it’s been an absolute rollercoaster but we’re finally out! Moved into our own place and have a safe and secure home for our little girl. Crazy the progress made in a year alone, we’ve started a business inspired by our daughter, had headline articles in many newspapers, podcasts and even appeared on TV. Clodagh’s driving now and we’ve a place to call our own. What a year and we couldn’t have done it all without you guys who’ve supported us all the way. Such a surreal moment and I wanted to share it with you all because you helped us get here. Big love, the fox’s💙🙏
