There’s still a lot of hedge to clear… but instead of looking at all that remains, I’m choosing to look at the part that’s already done.

Always look at how far you’ve come and give yourself a clap on the back for it 👏👏👏

Change takes time and work.
We often have to make the same change a number of times before it forms part of our daily routine.
We sewed this edge almost 2 years ago, life got in the way and we never put down matting or trimmed the grass around it. Right now it feels like we’re back at the beginning clearing the space again 🙈 but once we get it cleared and matting down it will be easier to keep it cleared. Everything takes time…

Eat the cake & make the memories, life is short.
In nearly 20 years of being a dietitian I’ve never met someone nearing the end say they wish they hadn’t ate any cake!

The last 2 slides are the most important 🧐….

So many people don’t include carbs when they are having a salad but they are just as important as every other part of the salad.
Also include with a slice of bread or some pasta or rice or crackers. Higher fat options like potato salad and chips also count but obviously are going to increase the calorie and fat content of the meal.

Another birthday another cake (or 2 😜)
Our 🌈 baby turned 7!
Was delighted when he asked for a chocolate covered ‘Farm Cake’, so much easier than trying to roll out large amounts of fondant in the heat.
I made a chocolate biscuit cake and then melted a shop bought pot of chocolate fudge icing which spreads really easy and gives a lovely smooth finish went it sets (just make sure the cake isn’t straight out of the fridge when you go pouring on the melted icing as it will start to set before you get to spread it around fully 🙈)
The cake was for his party with his friends and then I just made some Rice Krispie squares for the day of his actually birthday 😋
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather x
Which do you prefer: chocolate biscuit cake or Rice Krispie squares?

For context: this is for 2 adults and 4 children aged 9, nearly 7, 4 & 2.

Most meals were eaten at home in that timeframe or lunches brought from home, except for my husband who has lunch out 5 days a week. 2 of the kids get hot meals at school but still bring crackers and sandwich. There were nappies and batteries in the shop 1 week so that would account €40 from 1 week.

The €41.70 extra - some of that is inflation but also the kids are older and I do feel we use more food than last year.

What are your thought? Is this a lot? Do you spend more or less??

🍌No bananas were harmed in the making of this announcement. 🍌

🍌You don’t need to love every “healthy” food to have a balanced diet. Bananas are nutritious, but so are plenty of other fruits.🍓🍎🍏🍊🍍🍇🍒🥝🍐🫐

A sustainable way of eating includes foods that nourish you and foods you actually enjoy.

🍌 What’s a perfectly healthy food that you just don’t like? Let me know in the comments…

Posting this again as it’s something a lot of people don’t realise….

If you choose dairy free alternatives always check the nutritional content compared to the dairy you are replacing. Dairy foods are a great source of protein and calcium however a lot of dairy free alternatives are low in protein and some don’t have calcium added.
