Recently I visited the house of reknowned weaver family Vankar Vishram Valji in bhujodi,Kachchh, where Natural indigo dyeing has been practiced for many years, primarily for yarn dyeing.

1) This photo shows their beautiful indigo vats.🌱

2) In this photo, you can see the vat house that Ashok refers to as the “Indigo Temple” along with himself. Ashok is the son of Ramji Bhai Vankar, a master weaver, and he is currently in charge of the indigo dyeing department. His uncle Dinesh Bhai started the department and passed it on to Ashok.

3) This are the ingredients of natural indigo vat lime, natural indigo cake, dates and Jaggery paste.

4) In this photo, I am feeling temperature of the vat. It was quite cold. Ashok informed me that they do not prefer vat dyeing during winters as the temperature of the vat is not suitable for the indigo reduction.
