"The handloom industry rolls its carpet back to the ancient times. The very first fragment of Indian handloom was excavated from the parts of Egypt. After that, finely woven and dyed cotton fabrics were found in Mohenjo Daro (Indus Valley Civilization). There were some more excavations that speak of the golden history of Indian handloom. In fact, traditional handloom style has been one of the oldest forms. Even, the Vedic literature also has mention of Indian weaving styles. Apart from this, few examples are also seen in Buddhist era scripts about the woolen carpets.
Prior to imperialism and colonization, all the natural fabrics (silk, cotton and jute) were hand-woven.
Unfortunately the industrialisation across the globe was successful in destroying this rich culture and heritage and we have lost quite a bit of this fantastic craft.
Polyester is the most commonly used synthetic fiber today, and it contributes to the pollution of water bodies across the globe. Micro poly-fiber are found everywhere from fresh water to the ocean from deep sea to the artic. They are poisoning our soil and water, and entering the food cycle.
It’s high time that we bring back our weavers and revive our handloom industry.
Let us clothe India and the world once again in a sensible and natural way.

We at Onari believe that it is very important for kids to learn how to overcome obstacles. Learning to see them as opportunities for growth teaches the kids to feel powerful instead of victims to the circumstances. To teach them this, the parents must rise above their own disappointments and stay hopeful. This is the most powerful way to teach kids the value of resilience.
