Why Nandi? I’ve wondered about this myself. ...
Of all the Dhokra pendants I work with, somehow I keep coming back to Nandi.

Maybe it’s the stillness in him.
Maybe it’s that quiet strength that doesn’t need to announce itself.
Or perhaps it’s the feeling of being rooted — while still being open to everything that comes your way.

And then there’s Shakti. Fierce, feminine, unapologetic.

I often feel that these two speak to something very human in us — the strength to stand firm, and the courage to move forward.

Perhaps that’s why, when I show different Dhokra pendants, I notice something interesting: people pause a little longer at Nandi and Shakti. They don't just see them; they seem to feel them.

Maybe we’re drawn to what reflects a part of us we already carry.

For me, Nandi is that quiet strength.
Shakti is that fire within.

Kaari India is a handcrafted jewellery brand founded by Parul Pandey with a vision to preserve India's rich artistic heritage while creating meaningful livelihood opportunities for rural artisans.

Established in 2018, Kaari India celebrates the beauty of Indian craftsmanship by designing contemporary jewellery using Dhokra, brass, beads, textiles, embroidery, and natural materials. Every piece is thoughtfully handcrafted, blending centuries-old techniques with modern aesthetics to create jewellery that resonates with today's women while staying deeply rooted in tradition.

A major focus of Kaari India is the revival of the ancient Dhokra craft, one of India's oldest metal casting traditions. Parul works closely with artisan families from rural West Bengal, especially women artisans, helping them access wider markets and ensuring that this invaluable heritage continues to thrive for future generations.
