The popcorn stitch is a textured crochet stitch that creates a 3D, raised “bump” on your fabric - it literally looks like a little popcorn kernel popping out!
🍿 What Makes It Special?
It’s thicker and puffier than similar stitches like the bobble or puff stitch.
It pops out clearly on one side of the fabric, adding bold texture.
Often used in baby blankets, hats, bags, or decorative motifs.
🧶 How to Make a Basic Popcorn Stitch (Using Double Crochet):
1. Work 5 double crochets into the same stitch or space.
2. Remove your hook from the working loop.
3. Insert the hook into the top of the first double crochet of the group.
4. Grab the working loop again (the one you dropped).
5. Pull it through the top of the first dc to close the stitch.
