National Handloom Day is more than a date on the calendar. It marks the beginning of the Swadeshi Movement on 7 August 1905, when the choice to wear Indian-made textiles became a symbol of unity, self-reliance, and resistance against colonial rule.

Long before handloom was admired for its artistry, it stood at the heart of a movement that helped shape India’s journey towards independence. Every thread woven by Indian artisans carries not only craftsmanship but also a legacy of resilience and history.
