The Legacy of Jewellery: Deanna Farneti Cera in Conversation with Chiara Veratti
Join us for an exclusive interview featuring Deanna Farneti Cera, one of the most distinguished and respected historians of jewellery.
In this intimate conversation, Deanna is interviewed by Chiara Veratti (daughter of the designer Annarita Vitali, whose iconic creations were famously archived and celebrated by Deanna in her book, Fashion Jewellery: Made in Italy).
Together, they delve into the art, history, and craftsmanship of fashion jewellery.
Deanna Farneti Cera is a renowned Italian jewellery historian and curator, as well as one of the world’s leading scholars on non-precious jewellery from the eighteenth century to the year 2000. Drawing on her background in architecture and art history, she played a pioneering role in elevating high-fashion costume jewellery from a mere accessory to a recognized and highly collectible art form.
In the 1980s and 1990s, when costume jewellery was largely overlooked by traditional art historians, Deanna Farneti Cera conducted rigorous research into its design evolution, production techniques, and social impact. She has curated major international exhibitions that have highlighted the craftsmanship of legendary fashion houses and independent jewellers.
She is the author and editor of several influential books that remain essential reading for collectors, curators, and fashion historians.
