The ancient town with a population of just over 14,000 people is located 47 km from the Umbrian capital of Perugia.
In the middle ages, this settlement was called the Lion's Castle 👑 (Castellum Leonis — Castello del Leone).
The patron of Castiglione del Lago (Castiglione del Lago) is considered to be Mary Magdalene. 🙏🏼😇🙏🏼

The Basilica of Santa Croce is also called the Church of the Holy cross, which contains more than 300 tombs of the most famous Florentines, including the great Galileo Galilei, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Niccolo Machiavelli and many others. 🔭🏺⚖
