Enzo Ferrari was just 14 when a photograph of racing driver Raffaele DePalma inspired a dream: “This man is Italian. Why couldn’t I one day become a racing driver too?”

Seven years later, he entered his first race. A decade after that, he founded Scuderia Ferrari. In 1947, the first Ferrari was built in Maranello, marking the start of a legacy he would shape until his death on 14 August 1988.

As we mark the thirty-eighth anniversary of his death, Enzo Ferrari’s own words offer a compelling portrait of the vision and values that continue to drive the Company today.
