Alternative materials - such as hand-turned wood or magnesium – are also used when the shape and style of the product require it. Chairs, stools, armchairs and lounge chairs designed for a sophisticated client who is able to appreciate their intrinsic quality, the almost maniacal attention to details, their contemporary design never shouted or related to short-term fashion trends. In 1988, a Fasem chair designed by Archirivolto appeared in Star Trek: The Next Generation, furnishing the Café des Artistes holodeck in the episode We’ll Always Have Paris.
A piece of Italian design entered one of television’s most influential visions of the future. Decades later, the message remains surprisingly contemporary:
Good design does not need to look futuristic to belong to the future.

A design returns. Not as a replica, but as an evolution. Werner Aisslinger returns to Fasem to revisit one of the projects that marked our shared design history.
The original idea will be explored once again through contemporary materials, finishes, proportions and new ways of living. Because updating a design does not mean erasing its identity.
It means understanding what made it relevant and allowing it to speak to the present once again.
A new chapter is taking shape.

Andrea Branzi. A continuous present.
As Triennale Milano presents Andrea Branzi by Toyo Ito. Continuous Present, Fasem returns to two works born from its historic encounter with one of the most visionary figures of Italian design: the Abaco desk and the Ala drawer unit.
In these projects, furniture is never merely functional. It becomes a system of relationships between space, structure and material. Steel and crystal create architectural tension.
Full-grain hide leather restores warmth, touch and a connection with time.
A historic collaboration that continues to question the way we live, work and inhabit space.
The exhibition is on view at Triennale Milano until 4 October 2026.

Fasem selects full-grain hide leather not to conceal the natural identity of the material, but to reveal it.
