Vintage Seas. Showa Reborn.

Crafted from a vintage Japanese Tairyobata (fishing celebration banner), estimated from the 1960s–1970s, and naturally dyed with traditional persimmon tannin (kakishibu).

Once carried proudly at sea to celebrate a bountiful catch, the banner now begins a new journey as a one-of-a-kind wearable artwork—preserving its bold colors, weathered character, and the spirit of Japan’s coastal heritage.

昭和40〜50年代（1955〜1975年頃）**の大漁旗を柿渋で染め、一着のドレスへと生まれ変わらせました。

豊漁を願い、海を彩った大漁旗。その力強い色彩や風合い、受け継がれてきた物語をそのままに、世界に一つだけのウェアラブルアートとして新たな命を吹き込んでいます。

Vintage Green Meets Showa Nostalgia.

Crafted from a vintage Showa-era green textured cotton fabric, combined with Showa retro tenugui hand-dyed with natural persimmon tannin (kakishibu). The hem is finished with a vintage yukata, bringing together layers of Japanese memories in one wearable piece.

A one-of-a-kind creation that gives forgotten vintage textiles a new life.

昭和のグリーンが、懐かしい夏を運んでくる。

昭和レトロのヴィンテージグリーンのサッカー生地に、柿渋染めした昭和レトロの手ぬぐいを合わせ、裾にはヴィンテージ浴衣をあしらいました。
異なる時代の布がひとつになり、懐かしさと新しさが共存する一点ものの作品です。

Vintage Showa Tenugui Tiered Maxi Dress

This one-of-a-kind tiered maxi dress is handcrafted from authentic Showa-era vintage tenugui (approximately 1955–1970), naturally dyed with traditional persimmon tannin (kakishibu), and paired with a charming mid-Showa children’s antique kimono fabric.

Each tenugui once promoted local shops, pharmacies, seed companies, and community businesses, preserving fragments of everyday life from postwar Japan. Their nostalgic typography, playful illustrations, and gentle signs of age have been carefully preserved, allowing every piece of fabric to continue telling its story.

A wearable work of art where forgotten textiles are transformed into something timeless.

昭和ヴィンテージ手ぬぐいティアードマキシドレス

昭和30〜40年代のヴィンテージ手ぬぐいを柿渋で丁寧に染め、昭和中期の子ども用アンティーク着物を合わせて仕立てた、一点もののティアードマキシドレスです。

手ぬぐいには、当時の薬局や種苗店、商店などの広告やイラストがそのまま残されており、昭和の暮らしや文化を今に伝えています。

色褪せや風合いも、その布が歩んできた時間の証。
忘れられた布にもう一度スポットライトを当て、現代の装いとしてよみがえらせました。

Made as uniform shorts for my son to wear at NY NOW SUMMER 2026, August 2–4, at the Javits Center in Manhattan.

These shorts were upcycled from vintage Japanese tenugui dating from the late 1950s to the 1960s, featuring a nostalgic baby mascot that was popular at the time.

Vintage Showa Tenugui Persimmon-Dyed Skirts
Estimated Era: 1960s–1970s

Crafted by carefully joining together vintage Showa-era tenugui, these two one-of-a-kind skirts are naturally dyed with traditional Japanese kakishibu, or persimmon tannin.

Every tenugui carries traces of a different story—local shops, community events, and memories from decades past. Rather than allowing these textiles to fade into history, they have been transformed into a one-of-a-kind wearable artwork.

昭和時代のヴィンテージ手ぬぐいを一枚一枚丁寧につなぎ合わせ、日本の伝統的な天然染料「柿渋」で染め上げた一点もののスカートです。

手ぬぐいには、かつて商店や地域のお祭り、暮らしの中で使われていた懐かしい文字や図柄が残されており、それぞれが異なる物語を宿しています。

役目を終えた布にもう一度スポットライトを当て、現代に受け継ぐWearable Art（身にまとうアート）として生まれ変わらせました。

Vintage Tenugui Koikuchi Festival Shirt
Approx. 1970s

A one-of-a-kind custom-made Koikuchi festival shirt, created by carefully joining together multiple vintage Japanese tenugui from approximately the 1970s, including retro festival and traditional shop towels.

Each piece preserves the character of the original textiles while transforming them into wearable art.

ヴィンテージ手ぬぐい鯉口シャツ
推定1970年代

推定1970年代の昭和レトロな祭り手ぬぐいや商店の手ぬぐいなど、複数枚を組み合わせて仕立てた、オーダーメイドの一点ものの鯉口シャツ。

それぞれの手ぬぐいが持つ物語を受け継ぎ、新たな一着として生まれ変わりました。

Vintage Tairyō-bata Jumpsuit (Persimmon-Dyed)

Created from a vintage Japanese Tairyō-bata (traditional fishing banner) estimated to date from the 1960s–1970s, this one-of-a-kind jumpsuit has been naturally dyed with traditional kakishibu (Japanese persimmon tannin).

Once proudly raised to celebrate abundant catches at sea, this banner has completed its original purpose and now begins a new chapter as wearable art. Its bold colors and striking graphics preserve the spirit of Japan’s coastal heritage while taking on a contemporary form.

At MOMOYO STOBY FASHION, I believe that no vintage textile is too old to become the star once again.

推定1960〜1970年代の昭和の大漁旗を柿渋で染め、一点もののジャンプスーツへと生まれ変わらせました。豊漁を願い、船に掲げられていた大漁旗。その役目を終えた一枚が、今度は纏うアートとして新たな命を歩み始めます。

そんな想いを込めて制作した、世界にひとつだけの作品です。

One-of-a-kind tapered pants made from Showa-era vintage tenugui, naturally dyed with traditional Japanese persimmon tannin (kakishibu).

Estimated to date from the 1960s to early 1970s, these vintage advertising tenugui feature charming hand-drawn illustrations, old shop advertisements, and nostalgic typography that capture the everyday life of Japan’s Showa era.

The warm tones created by kakishibu dye enhance the character of the fabric, transforming a forgotten textile into a wearable piece of history that brings a sense of nostalgia and quiet joy.

駅前商店街の広告や、どこか懐かしい手描きのイラスト。昭和の暮らしを映した一枚の手ぬぐいには、当時の空気や人々の日常がそのまま残されています。
柿渋染めによって生まれたやわらかな風合いが、ヴィンテージの魅力をさらに引き立て、まるで昔へタイムスリップしたような、心がほっとする一着になりました。
