4月10日、朝からロウウッドの染料を煮出しに周山の加工現場まで行ってきました。
加工現場から車で10分ほどのところに、樹齢650年といわれる京都で唯一の天然記念物の枝垂れ桜が植えられている「常照皇寺」があります。

On the 10th April from the morning, I went to our processing facility in Shuzan to extract Rawwood dyestuff.
It takes about 10 minutes by car from this facility to “Josho-Koji Temple” where the weeping cherry tree that is Kyoto's only natural monument, said to be 650 years old, is planted.

1970年代中頃、欧州向け輸出用に制作したアーカイブの図柄をリメークした「WAVE」と「BAMBOO」のトートバッグ。シンプルでポップなタッチで和のモチーフがモダンに進化しました。
北山杉で特別に作られた木製タグも付いています。

“WAVE” and “BAMBOO” TOTE BAGS were re-made from our archive design produced for export to Europe in the mid-1970s. The Japanese motifs evolved into modern with the simple and pop touch.
It also comes with the special wooden tags made from Kitayama cedar.

周山街道も先週桜の満開を迎えていました。
周山地区に位置する「森の力京都株式会社」は、近隣の杉などの廃棄された間伐材を使った「木質ペレット」を生産販売されています。
その一角にある生産設備でロウウッドの染料が作られています。

円山公園は、祇園の八坂神社の奥にある公園。夜には円山公園を象徴する「祇園枝垂桜」がライトアップされ、艶やかで風情のある佇まいを見せています。ちなみに、ライトアップは今年は14日までだそうです。
