365 ART+ | EDITOR’S SPOTLIGHT ©365 ART + Magazine JAPAN

Some artists capture landscapes. Others capture a state of mind.

Korean photographer Sophia Kwak Sophia Kwak is one of those rare artists whose work invites us to slow down, breathe, and simply be present.

What draws me most to her photography is its remarkable sense of stillness. Through long-exposure photography and Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), she transforms the sea into something far beyond a landscape. It becomes a quiet reflection of our inner world—where emotion, memory, and silence exist in perfect balance.

Working primarily in black and white, Sophia embraces minimalism to remove distractions and deepen the viewer’s experience. Her photographs encourage contemplation, allowing us to discover healing, meditation, and peace within the simplicity of nature.

The sea is at the heart of her artistic vision. Ever-changing yet constant, it mirrors the many emotions we experience throughout life—joy, sorrow, hope, resilience, and transformation. Through her work, Sophia gently reminds us that nothing is permanent, and that calm often comes to those who pause, reflect, and patiently wait.

More recently, she has expanded her artistic practice by exploring the delicate beauty of light reflected in dewdrops, opening new possibilities for expressing tranquility and wonder.

At 365 Art+ Magazine, we believe that great photography is not only about what we see, but also about what we feel. Sophia Kwak creates images that invite us into moments of quiet reflection, where art becomes a space for healing and mindfulness.

Ronny, Tom & Jerry. 🩶Every evening it’s the same story.
I don’t know how they do it, but somehow all three of them end up on my bed at the same time. 😂
I guess I’ve officially lost my spot.

Would you move them… or just squeeze in somehow? 😄🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

365 ART+ | EDITOR’S SPOTLIGHT ©365 ART + Magazine JAPAN

Some artists don’t simply create images—they create entire worlds.

When I first encountered the work of Eda Lee, I immediately realized that this was more than fashion or hairstyling. Every look is a carefully constructed character, where hair becomes sculpture, color becomes emotion, and the human body transforms into a living work of art.

Based in Shanghai, Eda Lee has established a distinctive visual language that seamlessly blends avant-garde fashion, performance, and contemporary art. His creations challenge conventional beauty, inviting us to embrace individuality, imagination, and fearless self-expression.

It is no surprise that his work has been featured in internationally renowned publications including VOGUE, ELLE, Harper’s BAZAAR, Marie Claire, Schön!, Kaltblut, and many others. Yet beyond editorial success lies something even more compelling—a visionary artist who continually pushes the boundaries of creativity.

We were honored to feature Eda Lee Eda Lee李达 in 365 Art+ Magazine – Case 11: Next Dimension, where his extraordinary artistic vision perfectly reflected the spirit of that edition.

At 365 Art+ Magazine, we celebrate creators who dare to redefine the future of art. Eda Lee is undoubtedly one of those visionaries.

Some artists create remarkable paintings. Others create works that remain in your memory long after you have left the gallery.

Belgian artist Mathieu Bassez is one of those rare artists. Mathieu Bassez

What captivates me most is his extraordinary ability to unite the refined techniques of the Old Masters with the emotional depth of contemporary realism. Every composition is intentional, every detail meaningful, and every painting invites the viewer to slow down and truly connect with the work.

His artistic journey is as inspiring as his paintings. Driven by a lifelong fascination with Asian culture, Bassez studied Eastern Philology before continuing his artistic education at the Tokyo University of the Arts, where he was the only international student in his painting class. This unique experience shaped a visual language that gracefully bridges European classical traditions and Japanese aesthetics.

His life-size female portraits, wrapped in striking red fabrics, explore themes of love, strength, memory, sacrifice, and transformation. Equally compelling are his celebrated horse paintings—powerful, deeply emotional works that reveal not only the spirit of the horse but also the inner world of the artist himself.

It is no surprise that Mathieu Bassez’s work has been exhibited and collected by renowned museums, galleries, and private collections around the world, including the MEAM Museum in Barcelona, Halcyon Gallery in London, Opera Gallery in Dubai, and many others.

At 365 Art+ Magazine, we believe that great art is more than technical excellence—it is the ability to move people, spark reflection, and remain timeless. Mathieu Bassez is an artist who embodies these qualities with remarkable authenticity.
