国産内田比100%
まだ工場の周りに雪が残る2026年2月19日。
新工場に引っ越しをして、一番最初にご招待をしたのは、内田縫製のOBさん達でした。
何度もお伝えしていますが、内田縫製が今もこうして存続できているのは、近所のOBさんたちに支えていただいたからです。
人件費の安い海外へ仕事が流れ、一番苦しかった1990年代後半から2000年代前半。
仕事がほとんどない時期でも「実家の百姓を手伝うけん、心配せんでええ」
そんな温かい言葉をかけてくださり、会社を支え続けてくれました。
社長の涙は、新工場で直接感謝を伝えることができ、長年胸につかえていた想いが少しだけ軽くなったからだったのではないでしょうか。
新しい工場をぐるっと見学しながら「あたしらぁの頃はな〜」と急に漫才がはじまったり、
「こうして縫った方が早いがな！」と指摘を頂いたり、
「一着持って帰ってもええか？」と冗談(多分冗談のはず)を言ったり、、みなさんイキイキしていました。
これまでOB会は、近くの公会堂で開いていましたが、これからは、毎回新工場で開催してくれるようです！
食堂で昼食を食べて、ゲームをして、みなさん上機嫌で帰ってくれるなあと思っていた矢先、「誰かが弁当間違っとる！」と最後は大揉めです。
平均年齢80歳を超えるお姉さま方は、まだまだ衰えを知りませんね。
先日、日本国内で供給された衣料品のうち、国産が占める割合が1.1％を切ったという記事を目にしました。
(1990年の国産比率は50％超)
これからも減り続けていくであろう、日本の縫製工場。
地域でつないできたこのジーンズ縫製工場は、私たちが必ず守り続けていきます。
ちなみに、この日参加してくださったOBさんたちの苗字は全員「内田」。内田率100％です。
国産比率は減少の一途をたどっていますが、内田率はいまだ高水準を保っています。

100% Homegrown Uchidas.
On February 19, 2026, while snow still surrounded our factory, the very first guests we welcomed to our new building were our retired team members.
Uchida Hosei still exists today because of these local sewing legends.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, when production moved overseas and work almost disappeared, they stayed with us, saying,
“Don’t worry. We’ll help on the family farm until things get better.”
Their support carried us through our hardest years.
Perhaps that’s why our president couldn’t hold back his tears. At last, he was able to thank them in person at our new factory.
They toured the factory, shared old stories, gave us sewing tips, joked about taking a pair of jeans home, and finished the day arguing over who had taken the wrong lunch box.
The average age was over 80, but their energy is still incredible.
Recently, I read that Japanese-made clothing now accounts for less than 1.1% of all apparel supplied in Japan. (In 1990, it was over 50%.)
Japanese sewing factories continue to disappear.
But this jeans factory, built and sustained by our local community, is one we are determined to protect.
One last fun fact:
Every retired member who joined us that day had the same last name—Uchida. 100% Uchida.
Japan’s domestic production ratio may be declining…
…but the Uchida ratio is still going strong.
