☀️ 5 SUNSCREEN MYTHS TO STOP BELIEVING THIS FALL & WINTER
Cold weather, cloudy skies, or staying indoors… does that mean you can skip sunscreen?
Not necessarily! 👀
UV exposure doesn’t simply disappear when the weather gets colder. Let’s clear up 5 common sunscreen myths:
❌ “Cold weather means there’s no UV.”
→ Temperature does not determine whether UV radiation is present.
❌ “Cloudy days mean I don’t need sunscreen.”
→ Clouds can reduce UV levels, but they don’t completely block UV radiation.
❌ “I only need sunscreen when I go to the beach.”
→ Everyday outdoor activities such as commuting, walking, or running errands can still expose your skin to UV.
❌ “I’m indoors, so I don’t need to worry about UV.”
→ If you spend a lot of time near windows with direct sunlight, it’s still worth considering protection for exposed skin.
❌ “The higher the SPF, the longer I can stay in the sun.”
→ A higher SPF is not a reason to extend your time in the sun. Effective sun protection should still combine sunscreen + protective clothing/shade + limiting UV exposure when levels are high.
💡 Remember: Sun protection isn’t just for hot, sunny days. Building a consistent, everyday sun-protection routine is an important part of taking care of your skin.
