Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait Participates in the Launch of Dr. Saade Chami’s New Book
A delegation from the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait attended the launch of Dr. Saade Chami’s new book, Bound by Design: Public Service in a Broken System.
In his book, Dr. Chami recounts his personal journey and reflects on the challenges, dilemmas, and lessons learned during his tenure as Lebanon’s Deputy Prime Minister, where he led the country’s economic and financial reform efforts and negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
The event brought together prominent figures from the public and private sectors for a thoughtful discussion on public service, governance, institutional reform, and Lebanon’s path toward economic recovery.
Among the keynote speakers was Mr. Ali Hassan Khalil, Chairman of the Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait, who joined Dr. Saade Chami and economist and journalist Albert Kostanian in a panel discussion on the book and the broader lessons it offers for Lebanon’s future. During his remarks, Mr. Khalil emphasized that sustainable economic recovery cannot be achieved through financial reform alone, but requires rebuilding credible institutions, strengthening the rule of law, and articulating a compelling national vision capable of restoring citizens’ confidence and attracting investment. He noted that every reform initiative should ultimately be judged by its contribution to Lebanon’s long-term national prosperity and institutional strength.
The Council’s participation reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering open, balanced, and constructive dialogue on Lebanon’s economic and governance challenges, while strengthening the longstanding ties between Lebanon and Kuwait through initiatives that promote knowledge-sharing, informed public discourse, and institutional development.
