What if every product could tell you exactly where it comes from? ✨

We were excited to welcome CARE ID (Korea) supported by KOICA to Her Works 🤍

Together, we explored our full production journey — from our shop to sewing house and storage — sharing how each piece is made, starting from our artisans at the very beginning.

This marks an important step for us. We are beginning to develop a Digital Passport for Her Works products — allowing us to openly share our process, materials, and people behind each creation, while preparing for upcoming EU regulations.

We are grateful to be among the first brands from Laos selected to pilot this initiative. It may be a small step, but it moves us closer to a future where craftsmanship is not only beautiful — but also transparent and traceable.

Her Works at Kyoto Gift Show 2026 🇯🇵

Her Works is honored to exhibit at Kyoto Gift Show 2026 in Kyoto under the MOTTAINAI Project, organized by AMEICC in collaboration with the Lao Handicraft Association. We sincerely thank the organizers for this opportunity to present Lao craftsmanship on an international platform.

This year, we are showcasing our Elemental Thread textile, developed from banana fibre, designed for interior use and spatial partitions. The fabric highlights the beauty of natural materials and traditional weaving techniques from Laos.

We also introduce an Obi-inspired waistband, created by thoughtfully transforming selected textile remnants and surplus fabrics from our garment production into elegant fashion accessories—reflecting the spirit of Mottainai, where materials are respected and nothing is wasted.

Through this presentation, Her Works continues to explore how craft tradition, natural materials, and responsible design can shape a more sustainable future.

Who we learn from: communities + techniques ✨🤍Her Works began with listening 🌿
Our Founder, Ms. Tookta, traveled across Laos to meet women makers from communities including Yao, Hmong, Lue, Akha, Khmu, Khatu—and others. What she encountered was not just beauty, but deep skill: hand embroidery 🪡, intricate weaving 🧵, and careful hand-stitching passed through generations.
These are techniques rarely seen in mass production today—because they require time, patience, and lived knowledge ✨
We share these stories with care. We don’t reduce cultures to a “look,” and we avoid promises we can’t prove. Instead, we focus on process, respect, and longevity 🤍

Today we had the pleasure of welcoming the team from JICA Laos Office to Her Works.

Thank you very much to Ms. Miyako Kobayashi, Mr. Yoshihiro Imoto, Mr. Katsuyuki Tazawa, and Ms.Sousada Prathoumxay for taking the time to visit us and learn more about our work through the LJISUSU program.

During the visit, we shared about our journey with Her Works and TALAEW Craft & Sustainable Design Center, as well as the challenges and opportunities we face in developing sustainable textile production and supporting artisan communities in Laos. It was also a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas on how the LJISUSU Proof of Concept project can help strengthen our business model and create more impact for artisans and the craft sector.

We sincerely appreciate JICA’s continuous support and encouragement. Programs like LJISUSU play an important role in helping local businesses grow, innovate, and contribute to sustainable development.
