🚨 PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
To our Defender Community,
The weight of the badge is heavy. The demons that we sometimes carry can be too many and can blind us from seeing the path to recovery. If you’re struggling today, please remember you are not alone.
On November 13th, 2025, Jakob lost his battle with mental health, sadly taking his own life.
Airman 1st Class Jakob Hisler
EOW 13 November 2025
823rd Base Defense Squadron
Moody Air Force Base, Georgia
Jakob’s friends wrote this memorial for us to share: “He made a bad day bright with his smile and that smile always brightened the room! He was always there for the people he loved and cared about the most and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He always had his head in the game and knew what to do. He was headstrong and goofy at times and knew how to make people laugh. He always gave 110% for everything he did no matter what.”
The Brave Badge Initiative extends our deepest sympathies to his parents, his co-workers, and all of his friends. Please join us in keeping his family and friends in our thoughts and prayers in this time of need.
To ALL Defenders, if you need to talk or need help during this time of grieving please message us. We are here and available 24/7!
Jakob, your name will not be forgotten...
