Hartalika Teej is a sacred Hindu festival celebrated with devotion, fasting, and joy to honor the divine love between Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. It falls in the holy month of Bhadrapada and holds deep spiritual significance for women across India and Nepal.
On this day, women observe a nirjala vrat (fast without food or water) and pray for marital happiness, prosperity, and the blessings of Shiv-Parvati. Married women fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands, while unmarried women keep this fast to be blessed with an ideal life partner.
The festival is filled with colorful rituals, songs, dances, mehendi, and festive attire, creating an atmosphere of love, devotion, and joy. Women gather at temples, perform puja, and celebrate the eternal bond of Shiv and Parvati.
