1. Seams Without Topstitch (Internal Reinforcement)
These techniques are utilized to manage internal seam architecture without visible stitch lines on the face of the garment.
• Plain Seam (Basic): Two fabric plies joined by a single stitch line. Minimal bulk but lacks lateral reinforcement, making it susceptible to "seam grinning" under high tension.
• Stitch In-the-ditch: The needle penetrates exactly along the existing seam line.
o Mechanical Function: Primarily used for anchoring facings, waistbands, or bindings to the garment body. It provides a hidden structural link that prevents shifting during wear.
• Under-ල්;stitch: Applied only to the seam allowance and the facing/lining (not the garment face).
o Mechanical Function: It forces the seam line to roll slightly toward the inside of the garment. This ensures the seam remains hidden and the edge stays crisp and flat.

2. Topstitch Position (External Anchoring)

At the Edge (Edge Stitching)

Basic (Standard Topstitch)
• Technical Spec: Positioned up to 1.2 cm (approx.1/4" to 3/8") from the seam.
• Engineering Purpose: This is the industry standard for general reinforcement. It captures the bulk of the seam allowance and anchors it to the main panel, distributing the load across a wider surface area than a plain seam.
Off-Seam (Wide Topstitch)
• Technical Spec: Positioned from $1.3\text{cm}$ ($1/2"$) and beyond.
• Engineering Purpose: Primarily used in heavy-duty applications (e.g., workwear, denim). By stitching far from the seam line, you ensure the entire width of the seam allowance is flattened against the garment body. 3. Topstitch Line Density (Load Distribution)
The number of parallel stitch lines directly impacts the Tensile Strength of the assembly.

2. පිටතින් පෙනෙන මැහුම් (Top-stitching)
මෙම මැහුම් මඟින් ඇඳුමේ හැඩය පවත්වා ගැනීම සහ රෙදි ස්ථර එකට තද කර තැබීම සිදු කරයි.

දාර මැහුම (Edge Stitch): දාරයේ සිට ඉතා ආසන්නයෙන් (1.5 mm - 2 mm පමණ) යොදන මැහුමකි. මෙය කරපටි, කෆ් (Cuffs) වැනි කොටස්වල හැඩය මනාව පවත්වා ගැනීමට උදවු වේ.

සම්මත ඉහළ මැහුම (Standard Top-stitch): මැහුම් රේඛාවේ සිට 1.2 cm පමණ දුරින් යොදන සාමාන්‍ය මැහුමයි. කර්මාන්තශාලාවල රෙදි ස්ථර ශක්තිමත්ව රඳවා තබා ගැනීමට මෙය බහුලව භාවිතා කරයි.

පිටත ඉහළ මැහුම (Wide Top-stitch): මැහුම් රේඛාවේ සිට 1.3 cm වඩා ඈතින් යොදන මැහුමකි. මෙය ඩෙනිම් වැනි ඝන රෙදි වල ඇතුළත වාටිය (Seam Allowance) ඇඟට නොදැනෙන සේ තද කර තැබීමටත්, ඇඳුමේ ශක්තිය වැඩි කිරීමටත් යොදාගනී.

3. මැහුම් පේළි ගණන (ශක්තිය වැඩි කිරීම)
ඇඳුමක ශක්තිය තීරණය වන්නේ එහි ඇති සමාන්තර මැහුම් පේළි ගණන අනුවයි.

තනි පේළිය: පිරිසිදු නිමාවක් ලබා දෙන නමුත් ශක්තිය අවමයි.

පේළි දෙක (Double Line): කලිසම් වල කරදිය (Crotch) වැනි වැඩි ආතතියක් ඇති තැන් සඳහා භාවිතා කරයි. එක නූලක් කැඩුණත් ඇඳුම ගැලවී නොයෑමට මෙය උදවු වේ.

පේළි තුන (Triple Line): වැඩ ඇඳුම් සහ ආරක්ෂිත ඇඳුම් සඳහා යොදාගනී. රෙදි ස්ථර අතර චලනය මුළුමනින්ම නවතා, ඇඳුමට උපරිම ශක්තියක් මෙයින් ලබා දෙයි.
