My name Lovemore Chinzakazi. Student, Malawi College of Accountancy.
I am an accounting student with no job, but I have a balance sheet mindset. While many graduates are waiting for employment, I am using my core skill financial discipline to build "Face The Loyalty." This isn't just a clothing brand; it's a financially engineered experiment in self-reliance for the Malawian youth.
"Face The Loyalty" is motivational streetwear for the underdog. It’s for the student walking to campus, the graduate sending out CVs, and the hustler in the market. Our designs blend bold street aesthetics with Malawian soul"
The Competitive Edge:The "Lean Accountant" Model
Most brands fail because they guess. I don't guess; I calculate. I am applying the principles of Financial Accounting to fashion to create a "Zero-Waste" business model.
1. The Product: Premium, comfy streetwear that acts as "wearable mindset armor." Every item comes with a branded hang-tag featuring a free accounting hack (e.g., "The 50/30/20 Rule for Students")—bridging the gap between fashion and financial literacy.
2. The Production (Zero-Risk): I have identified local tailors in Chilomoni. Instead of begging for credit, I offer them guaranteed, pre-paid work. I use my spreadsheet skills to calculate exact material costs, ensuring no fabric is wasted.
3. The Sales (The Float): We launch via pre-orders on WhatsApp and Instagram. Customers pay a 50% deposit via Airtel Money. These deposits fund the production run. I track every Kwacha in Google Sheets, reconciling payments against costs in real-time. Once the order is delivered, the customer pays the balance, and profit is immediately reinvested.
Financial Projection (Lean & Realistic):
· Unit Economics: Target price K22,000.
· Production: K13,000 (Includes transport & packaging).
· Profit: K9,000 per unit.
· Launch Goal: Secure 10 pre-orders from the MCA community.
· Capital Required from Deposits: K110,000 (covers production).
· Revenue at Delivery: K220,000.
· Profit (Reinvested): K90,000.
· Month 1 Target: K90,000 profit.
· Month 3 Target: Expand to pop-up sales at MCA events, introduce a cap design, and build a small WhatsApp community of "Loyalists."
Why This Will Work (The Closing Argument):
I am not a designer who learned accounting; I am an accountant who learned design. This means I treat waste as a liability and customer trust as my biggest asset. In an economy where inflation erodes value, my financial discipline preserves it. "Face The Loyalty" is more than a brand—it's a proof of concept that an accounting diploma is a toolkit for building, not just a certificate for applying.
