About Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST)

The Central Medical Stores Trust (CMST) is responsible for the procurement, warehousing, sales, and distribution of adequate, affordable, approved, and quality medicines and medical supplies to public health facilities across Malawi.

Job Overview

CMST is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Assistant Human Resource Officer to support the Human Resource Section in implementing Human Resource policies, procedures, and programmes and ensuring the efficient delivery of human resource services across the Trust.

Job Grade: MS6
Number of Positions: 1
Reporting to: Human Resource Officer (MS5)

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in recruitment and selection processes, including advertising vacancies, shortlisting candidates, and coordinating interviews.
• Support induction and orientation programmes for newly recruited staff.
• Maintain and update employee records and Human Resource databases.
• Assist in administering employee benefits and staff welfare programmes.
• Support the coordination of training and staff development activities.
• Assist in preparing Human Resource reports, including attendance, leave, and staff turnover reports.
• Support employee relations initiatives and maintain effective communication channels with staff.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with labour laws and CMST Human Resource policies.
• Support performance management, disciplinary processes, and staff meetings.
• Provide administrative and clerical support to the Human Resource Section.
• Monitor leave utilisation and absenteeism records.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) or equivalent.
• Membership of a relevant professional body.
• Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in a Human Resource environment.

Skills and Attributes

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMIS) and ERP systems.
• Knowledge of Malawi labour laws.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High levels of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Sound organisational and administrative skills.
