The Realities of Being a Diaspora Mum:
👇👇

Everybody sees the photos.

The smiles.
The beautiful homes.
The family outings.
The matching Christmas pajamas.😂

But very few people see the reality behind the pictures.

Being a diaspora mum often means carrying the weight of an entire village on your shoulders—alone.

It means handling school runs, doctor appointments, house chores, work, homework, meal planning, laundry, and bedtime routines without the support system you once took for granted.

It means missing weddings, birthdays, family gatherings, and precious moments back home because life abroad doesn't always allow you to hop on a plane whenever you want.

It means smiling during video calls while secretly wishing your children could grow up surrounded by grandparents, cousins, aunties, and uncles.

It means being strong even when you're exhausted.

Some days, you're running on coffee, determination, and the hope that all your sacrifices will be worth it someday.

Yet despite the challenges, diaspora mums keep showing up.

They build homes far from home.

They preserve culture while helping their children adapt.

They create opportunities while carrying responsibilities that would normally be shared by an entire community.

And perhaps the most remarkable thing?

Many of them do it quietly.

No applause.
No audience.
No recognition.

❤️ To every diaspora mum: your strength is seen, your sacrifices matter, and your children are benefiting from seeds you're planting today.

Now, let's have an honest conversation.👇

What has been the hardest adjustment for you since raising children abroad?

Let's talk..🙏
