I’ve personally always considered which is best as a fashion designer? Making bespoke clothing or designing collections that would be specifically for rentals.
Well, there’s no “correct” way to do bridal and various factors would affect your final choice.

Some brides want the emotional experience of owning a custom gown designed just for them. Others would rather save money, rent the dream dress, and invest more into the actual wedding or honeymoon.
And honestly? Both choices are valid.
The real question is:
What matters MOST to you as a bride — sentiment, budget, fit, sustainability, or convenience?

I’ve spent the better part of this year not being moved by my own creativity.
And when I got ready to start designing for the year (not a collection to show but one to document), I felt stuck, frustrated, unmoved.
And so I decided to embark on a journey. One of self and brand discovery.
I’m currently researching and discovering what my true brand ethos is, one that’ll become the very foundation of the kyimya’yaih brand and it’s gotten me really excited. I can’t wait to see what I uncover.

And I’ll definitely keep you updated as the journey goes 🥰🥰

P.s: it’s been such a fun adventure watching 1950s Hollywood movies. Not bad for research 😄🤭🤭

Not every bride wants boning, corsetry, or a dramatically cinched waist — and honestly? She doesn’t have to.

From slip dresses to soft A-lines, column gowns, kaftans, and cape silhouettes… structure isn’t the only thing that makes a dress feel luxurious. Sometimes it’s the fabric. The movement. The presence. The woman wearing it.

Bridal beauty doesn’t only exist in tight silhouettes.
It also exists in ease. 🤍

We decided not to do a conventional “robe”
We opted for a dress she could wear on the evening where beautiful music was shared amongst friends.

One thing Nigerian weddings will do is humble everybody involved
Because one wedding would carry:
white wedding, trad, after party, pre-wedding shoot, bridal shower, family pressure, vendor drama, and emotional breakdowns all at once!!

A lot of brides don’t realize how much time actually goes into creating a bridal gown — especially custom dresses with structure, handwork, corsetry, draping, and multiple fittings.

And in Nigeria, you also have to account for:
fabric availability, delivery delays, power issues, dollar exchange fluctuations amidst other random unforeseen situations.

Starting early doesn’t make you dramatic.
It gives you breathing room.

Believe me future-you will thank you
