🌍💱 ECOWAS is targeting 2027 to launch its long-awaited single regional currency, the ECO.
The ECO is expected to boost trade, strengthen economic ties, and make business easier across West Africa.

The initiative is being driven by ECOWAS leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye of Senegal.

After years of delays, the region is once again pushing to make the ECO a reality.
Do you think the ECO will be a game-changer for West Africa?

There are strong, strategic, and compelling reasons for the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider Agyaragu community as the ideal location for a new Federal Polytechnic. Beyond its central location within Nasarawa State, Agyaragu community has consistently demonstrated capacity for revenue generation through agriculture, trade, and solid minerals. For decades, the community has remained peaceful, industrious, and supportive of government initiatives. Its proximity to major highways linking Nasarawa South to Benue, Kogi, and the FCT makes it accessible, while its history of communal harmony provides the stable environment required for a federal institution to thrive.

Siting a federal institution in Agyaragu community will not only be equitable but also sustainable in the long term. The community already has the social and economic base to support and maintain a tertiary institution. Vast expanse of land is available for immediate development, and the people are welcoming and ready to collaborate. There is a deep culture of peaceful coexistence among different ethnic and religious groups, which guarantees the safety and stability required for academic activities. With low security risks and high community ownership, Agyaragu community represents a low-risk, high-return investment for the Federal Government at a time when efficiency and impact matter most.

The need for a new polytechnic has become even more urgent following the successful upgrade of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa to the Federal University of Mining, Engineering and Technology. While that upgrade was a landmark achievement for Nasarawa State, it inadvertently created a vacuum in polytechnic and technical education. Nigeria’s industrial, construction, and
