๐ง๏ธ Fondant Tips for Rainy Season
1. Work in an air-conditioned or well-ventilated room
Avoid decorating in a hot, humid environment. AC helps reduce moisture in the air.
2. Use less water ๐ง
When attaching fondant pieces, use only a tiny amount of edible glue. Too much moisture can cause melting or sweating.
3. Donโt roll fondant too thin
Slightly thicker fondant is easier to handle in humid weather and less likely to tear.
4. Use cornstarch sparingly
A light dusting can help prevent sticking, but too much can dry out or discolor the fondant.
5. Allow decorations to dry properly
Make fondant toppers, flowers, bows, etc. ahead of time and let them firm up before placing them on the cake.
6. Avoid putting cold cakes directly into humid air
Condensation can form on the cake and make the fondant sweaty. Let chilled cakes adjust gradually when possible.
7. Keep unused fondant tightly covered
Air and moisture can affect its texture. Wrap it properly and store it in an airtight container.
8. Donโt refrigerate unnecessarily
Fondant cakes can develop condensation when removed from a cold refrigerator into humid weather. If refrigeration is necessary, use proper cake-boxing and allow the cake to acclimatize carefully.
9. Finish as close to delivery time as practical
In very humid weather, the longer a fondant cake sits exposed to moisture, the more problems you may encounter.
