When I was younger, there were so many things my parents told me not to do.

At that time, I honestly felt like they were being too strict. Sometimes, I even wondered if they were saying “no” because they didn't want me to experience certain things or have access to certain opportunities. 😅

But as I grew older and started experiencing life for myself, I began to understand something…

Sometimes, what we see as our parents trying to control us is actually their way of protecting us. ❤️

I remember when my mum told me not to marry my ex.

At that time, I may not have completely understood why she felt that way. But today, I look back and say:

“Thank God I listened to my mum.” 🙏🏽

Some things our parents warn us about only make sense after we have grown older. Their advice may not always be perfect, but sometimes, they can see danger where we are only seeing excitement.

Could You Do What This Woman Did? 🤔✈️❤️

Let me share a story that happened to a couple in my street.

When they had their child, the baby was just about one year old when an opportunity came for them to travel abroad. Their plan was for the whole family to travel together.

Unfortunately, things didn't work out that way.

The wife was the only one who was able to travel.

So she had to make a very difficult decision—she travelled abroad while her husband stayed back in Nigeria with their young son.

Imagine leaving your one-year-old child behind and trusting your husband to care for the child while you go abroad to work, establish yourself and build a future for your family. ❤️

It wasn't just for a few months.

It took about four years before she was finally able to bring her husband and son to join her abroad.

Now, this story got me thinking…

Before we go ahead ,take a second to look at the colored crochet pant above ,will you rock this with your spouse?

WOMEN, LET ME ASK YOU: 👩🏽

If you were in her shoes, could you do the same thing?

Could you leave your one-year-old child and your husband in Nigeria and travel abroad alone because you believe that going ahead will eventually create a better future for your family?

Would you be able to cope with the distance, missing birthdays, milestones and everyday moments with your child?

Or would you say, "No, we must all go together, even if it means waiting longer"?

MEN, THIS QUESTION IS FOR YOU TOO: 👨🏽

If your wife gets an opportunity to travel abroad for work, but the only way it can happen is for her to go first while you remain in Nigeria with your child, would you support her?

Would you be able to say:

"Go. I'll take care of our child. Go and build something for us." ❤️

Or would you feel uncomfortable with your wife being away for years while you raise the child here?

And here's the big question:

If you knew that after 3–4 years she could bring you and your child to join her abroad, would that make the sacrifice easier?

There are so many things to consider—love, marriage, motherhood, fatherhood, finances, career, education, opportunities and the future of the child.

So let's make this a proper conversation.

👩🏽 Women: Could you leave your husband and child in Nigeria for years to pursue an opportunity abroad?

👨🏽 Men: Would you allow your wife to go ahead while you stay back and take care of your child?

Lately, I’ve been thinking about something, and honestly, I would really love to hear what you think.

Imagine you could go back to the exact time you were about to enter university.

Now imagine someone came to you and said:

“ All your university education expenses, Your school fees, accommodation, transportation, feeding, textbooks… everything. This is it, make a choice,between going to school and starting a business.” 💰

Knowing what you know now, especially with the way things are in Nigeria — the struggle to get jobs after graduation, the competition, the cost of living and how difficult it can be to survive — would you still choose to go to university?
Or would you take that money and start a business instead? 💼

And please, look at the picture I’m posting with this question. This little gown is handmade, and it reminds me that sometimes a skill can also become a source of income. You can learn something with your hands, build a business around it and create something people are willing to pay for.

So, if you had the chance to go back in time with the knowledge you have today…

When “I’m on the bike” was actually “I’m still on the bed” 😂

My landlord wanted to attend an event and had someone waiting for him at the bus stop.

The person called him to ask if he heard left the house, and my landlord confidently said, “I’m already on the bike.” 😭

Meanwhile, this man was still comfortably at home! 😂

Eventually, he got on the bike and started heading out. Then, as he wanted to call the person to ask exactly where they were standing, he reached for his phone…

PHONE NO DEY THERE! 😭😭

He had left the phone on the bed at home.

So this same man who had already announced, “I’m on the bike,” had to turn the bike around and go back home to pick his phone. 😂

By the time he got home, picked up the phone and started checking his missed calls…

The person had called, called, called, CALLED! 📞📞📞

At that point, I’m sure the person had already concluded that my landlord had entered another dimension. 😂😂

Imagine lying that you’re already on the bike when you’re still at home, only for your phone to expose the whole arrangement. 🤣

Lesson of the day: Before you announce “I’m on my way,” please check that your phone, keys and everything else are actually with you! 😂😂

Nigerian Food Combinations That Deserve Their Own Research 😂🍛

When I was working in an eatery, I realised that Nigerians don't just eat food… we experiment with food! 😂

The combinations I used to see customers order sometimes left me wondering if I was still in an eatery or in a food laboratory. 🤣

One customer would say, “Give me porridge.”
Another would say, “Add beans.”
Then the next thing you hear is, “Put some efo riro on top.” 😭😂

Porridge + beans + efo riro… ALL ON ONE PLATE! 🤣🤣

I would just stand there quietly, watching them mix everything together, asking myself:

“How are you people heating this food at home?” 😂
Because how do you reheat porridge, beans and efo riro together and everything still comes out looking like food? 😭

And the funniest part? They will finish the whole plate, drink a chilled bottle of Coke and go about their day like nothing happened. 😂😂

Meanwhile, if I eat two different things that don't agree with each other, my stomach will start holding a family meeting. 😭🤣

But honestly, one thing about Nigerians: give us different foods and we will find a way to combine them! 😂

Now I'm curious…
