THE MIRACLE

PART THREE — THE WOMAN THEY BROUGHT HOME

Story by Richard Henry

Esther woke up early that morning.

As usual, she knelt beside her bed and prayed for her husband.

“Lord, whatever is happening in my marriage, please don't let me lose Daniel. And above all, don't let me lose my faith in You.”

She had no idea that before the day ended, her whole world would change.

Around noon, Daniel came home.

But this time, he wasn't alone.

Esther heard the sound of another woman's voice coming from outside.

She quickly walked toward the door.

Then she froze.

Daniel was standing there with the same woman Esther had seen in the picture on his phone.

The woman smiled confidently.

Esther looked at Daniel.

“Who is she?”

Daniel didn't answer immediately.

His silence was enough to make Esther's heart race.

Then he finally spoke.

“Her name is Rebecca.”

Esther looked at the woman.

“Why did you bring her here?”

Before Daniel could answer, his mother walked into the compound.

And Esther suddenly understood.

This wasn't a visit.

It was a plan.

Daniel's mother looked at Esther without sympathy.

“We have discussed everything.”

Esther's voice trembled.

“Discussed what?”

The woman pointed toward Rebecca.

“This is the woman Daniel will marry.”

Esther felt her knees become weak.

She looked at Daniel, hoping he would deny it.

“Daniel?”

He looked away.

“I'm sorry, Esther.”

Those three words destroyed her.

She walked closer to him.

“After everything we've been through?”

Daniel remained silent.

“After all the nights I prayed for you?”

Still silent.

“After all the years I stood beside you?”

Daniel finally looked at her.

“I want a child, Esther.”

Esther's eyes filled with tears.

“So because I haven't had a child yet, you want to throw away our marriage?”

Daniel had no answer.

Rebecca stood beside him, watching quietly.

Then Daniel's mother spoke.

“You have tried for three years. It is time to accept reality.”

Esther wiped her tears.

“I may no

THE MIRACLE

PART TWO — WHEN LOVE BEGINS TO FADE

Story by Richard Henry

Three years had passed since Daniel and Esther got married.

Three years of waiting.

Three years of prayers.

Three years of hoping for the cry of a baby in their home.

But something had changed.

Daniel was no longer the same man Esther married.

He became distant.

He stayed out late.

Sometimes, he would come home without saying a word to her.

One evening, Esther prepared dinner and waited for him.

When Daniel finally arrived, she smiled.

“Welcome home.”

Daniel walked past her without answering.

“Daniel?”

He stopped.

“What?”

“Is everything alright?”

He turned around and looked at her.

“Esther, I'm tired.”

She lowered her head.

“I know you're tired. I'm tired too.”

“No, you don't understand,” Daniel said. “I'm tired of this marriage.”

Esther froze.

“What did you just say?”

Daniel sighed.

“Three years, Esther. Three years, and nothing has changed.”

She stepped closer to him.

“But we promised each other that we would stand together.”

“Promises don't give me a child.”

Those words broke her heart.

That night, Esther cried herself to sleep.

But Daniel didn't know that while he was becoming tired of waiting, Esther was becoming stronger in prayer.

Every morning, she prayed.

Every night, she prayed.

She kept telling herself:

“God has not forgotten me.”

But Daniel was listening to other voices.

His family had started asking him questions.

“Daniel, how long will you continue like this?”

“You are still young.”

“You need a child.”

At first, Daniel defended Esther.

But slowly, their words began entering his heart.

Then one afternoon, Daniel received a phone call.

He listened quietly.

His expression changed.

“Are you sure?” he asked.

There was a pause.

“Alright. I'll come.”

He ended the call.

Esther, who had been standing nearby, noticed the change in his face.

“Who was that?”

“Nobody.”

“Daniel, what happened?”

“Nothing.”

But something had happened.

That

THE MIRACLE

PART ONE — THE WAITING SEASON

Story by Richard Henry

The church was filled with joy that beautiful afternoon.

Daniel stood at the altar, waiting for the woman he had always dreamed of marrying.

Then Esther walked in.

Their eyes met, and Daniel smiled.

That day, they promised to love each other, stand together, and never give up on one another.

After the wedding, they began their new life together with big dreams.

They wanted a beautiful home.

They wanted to build a happy family.

And more than anything, they wanted children.

One evening, while sitting together outside their home, Esther placed her head on Daniel's shoulder.

“Daniel,” she said with a smile, “can you imagine our children running around this compound someday?”

Daniel laughed.

“I can already see them.”

They both laughed.

Neither of them knew how long they would have to wait.

ONE YEAR LATER...

No child.

Esther remained hopeful.

TWO YEARS LATER...

Still nothing.

People began asking questions.

“Why haven't you had a child yet?”

“Have you gone to the hospital?”

“Maybe you should try another doctor.”

Some comments hurt more than others.

But Esther kept believing.

She prayed.

She fasted.

She attended prayer meetings.

Sometimes she would wake up in the middle of the night, kneel beside her bed, and cry before God.

“Lord, remember us. Please give us our own child.”

Daniel prayed with her at first.

He held her hands and encouraged her.

“Don't worry, Esther. Our time will come.”

But then the third year arrived.

And nothing had changed.

One morning, Esther returned from the hospital with tears in her eyes.

Daniel looked at her face and already knew the answer.

“Again?” he asked.

Esther slowly nodded.

Daniel looked away.

For several minutes, neither of them spoke.

Then Esther reached for his hand.

“Daniel, please don't give up.”

He pulled his hand away.

“I am tired, Esther.”

She stared at him.

“Tired of what?”

“Tired of waiting.”

Those words broke somet

THE STORY

PART TWO

Story by Richard Henry

The room was silent.

Daniel remained on his knees, tears flowing down his face.

Daniel’s father stood before him, pointing at him angrily.

DANIEL’S FATHER:
“Daniel! I have warned you several times. If you want to continue with this nonsense about God, then leave my house!”

Daniel looked up at his father.

DANIEL:
“Daddy, please… I have nowhere else to go.”

Daniel’s father became even more furious.

DANIEL’S FATHER:
“That is not my problem! You are no longer welcome in this house. Get out!”

Daniel slowly stood up.

DANIEL:
“Daddy…”

DANIEL’S FATHER:
“I SAID GET OUT!”

Daniel picked up his small bag.

He looked at his father one last time, hoping he would change his mind.

But Daniel’s father turned his back on him.

Daniel opened the door.

Before stepping outside, he whispered:

DANIEL:
“God, You are the only One I have now.”

He walked out.

The door slammed behind him.

SCENE TWO — THE DARK STREET

Daniel walked aimlessly through the dark street.
